"Skeletons" was my #1 that year.
Dihaj´s performance was absolutely incredible. I loved all the symbols/portrayed metaphors. The staging was incredible.. it deserved to end up being higher, for sure - I´m glad that it got some 12 points from the juries, though.

Vasif Mammadov, Deputy General Director of ITV, has been appointed the head of this year's Azerbaijani delegation at the Eurovision Song Contest.

I have only the best impressions and memories of this project since 2009, but it is time to move on. I have been working on it for several years now. I will devote time to the realization of projects.

Next year, I plan to finally make my first author's concert a reality. I will start preparations for it right after the new year. At the same time, another project is expected to start, but it is still a secret.

Our relations with the ITV TV channel and especially with the management of the channel have been great. We have a lot of plans ahead and we will work in many interesting directions in 2023.

I wish the new head of the delegation and our Eurovision team bright artists, hit songs, countless "12 points" and the conquest of new heights! We will be cheering you on in May!.

That's a huge surprise.

Isa Malikov will be deeply missed.
A few fans like to complain about Azerbaijan not submitting "Azerbaijani entries" but honestly, they've showcased more ethnic elements than most Central or Western European countries lately.

The Azerbaijani entries have got a Western sound (due to Swedish songwriters), for sure... but I fail to see how fans can argue that Azerbaijan or Armenia have to send Azerbaijani and Armenian songwriters whilst they never complain about entries from Austria or Germany sounding "American/Swedish" as well.

Even though we face globalisation (also in music), I admired Azerbaijan's effort to include (at least) a few Azerbaijni elements in their entries (whilst staying competitive).

Let's see how their entries will change in sound from now on.

Does it mean that they are genuinely interested in submitting self-penned songs or songs artists wanted to record?!
