Re: AZERBAIJAN 2019

I hope Ictimai has not already been shopping for a bland Scandipop song. I am sorry for Aisel, but she was a tool of a broadcaster who hasn't a clue. Cross my Heart was kind of upbeat, but sooo bland and bland is mostly everything catered by Azerbaijan but wrapped in huge circus stage act.

In 10 years of Azerbaijan at Eurovision, we still dont know anything about Azeri music und flavour. Or is Scandipop with a heavy accent and enunciation blunders a real Azeri thing?

I wish Ictimai would send something like "Origo" someday, or at least that kind of balance between ethnic flavour and modernity.

And even if they don't want to do without English, they could at least try a bilingual entry for once. Azeri sounds good, why not use it? :)

I understand your point, but I think we got a good amount of tradtional Azeri music from their 2009, 2012 and 2014 entries. And maybe even 2008, which featured a part of mugham singing.

I am hopeful that this year we will finally end up hearing at least one Azeri word in their song. I think there were rumours last year that Aisel was supposed to sing a song in Azeri, but with a last moment change they opted for X my heart instead.

If it's true, at least it can be interpreted that they're considering & leaning towards singing in Azeri.

Today AISEL presented her new album PURE NOISE.

The concept of PURE NOISE emphasizes the importance of our inner voice which exists within each of us and the most important thing is not to get distracted by external noises that prevent us from hearing what is more important.

The EP album is presented in LIVE version recorded during a live performance in International Mugham Center of Azerbaijan in 2018.

Rauf won't represent Azerbaijan for sure.

The Azerbaijani broadcaster has revealed 15 artists which are part of an "audition round". One of them will represent my favourite country in Eurovision (song-wise) of recent years:

Emiliya Yaqubova – Winner of the first season of the Voice of Azerbaijan
Samira Efendi – Participated in the Azerbaijani selection multiple times
Maryam Shabanova – Finalist in the 2010 selection process
Vlada Ahundova – Participated in the 2012 and 2013 selection, as well as the Turkvision selection in 2014
Tofig Hajiyev – Participant in the Voice of Azerbaijan and presenter for MTV Azerbaijan
Huseyn Abdullayev – Was one of the three singers shortlisted to represent Azerbaijan in 2016
Altun Zeynalov – Participated in the 2012 national selection
Ruslan Alishan – Competed in the 2014 selection as well as Voice of Azerbaijan and Voice of Turkey
Sarkhan Jafarov – Competed in the Azerbaijani selection for Turkvision 2014
Narmin Karimbayova – Participated in the Voice of Azerbaijan 2016
Elvin Novruzov – Participated in the Voice of Azerbaijan 2016
Rilaya – Took part in the 2013 and 2014 Azeri selection for Eurovision
Leman Dadasheva (Dadashova) – Semi-finalist in the Voice of Azerbaijan 2016
Narmin Behbudova – Was also shortlisted in 2015 to represent Azerbaijan at Eurovision
Narmina Seyidova – Was also shortlisted in 2015 to represent Azerbaijan at Eurovision

My Azerbaijani friend suggest that it's very likely that Samira Efendi is going to represent the country in Tel Aviv.

To be honest, I'm just not a very big fan of how they styled Dilara
Trape artist was maybe a bit unnecessary
Big fan of the backdrops though except the last one as the song's not about fire - although it's probably the crystals exploding so it's kinda nice anyway

I imagine she would've done it better with today's system though, as I imagine this receiving a decent amount of jury points?

Yeah, Azerbaijan was part of the Top 10 when it comes to the juries.
"Start a Fire" was a brilliant masterpiece, in my opinion, one of my favourite Eurovision entries of all-time.
I guess that the performance was a bit off-putting as well as the instance that Dilara had no effing clue what she's been singing about :D

Start A Fire is xheat
Therefore sad that it had to be the first Azeri entry outside top ten )):

I think Dilara tried to spread the «positive» in the song therefore the smiling

Looks like Azerbaijan has started an open call via e-mail for Eurovision! I still believe that 'X my heart'' was underrated song but this year i expect something better!

According to INFE Azerbaijan, Araz Humbatli, Tofiq Hajiyev and Samira Efendiyeva on the Azerbaijan Eurovision short list.

I think, it's wrong information.

Husniyye said, that their singers hasn't been chosen yet. I'm glad, because I had hope again, that Leman will represent Azerbaijan this year, I cross my fingers for her)))
