I hope we get something more interesting than a souless import like "Hold Me". It wasn't a bad song, but it had absolute no soul, 100% mechanic and calculated which is the very opposite of a good ballad.

I assume we'll not see a real Azeri song at all since they'll send another Swedish song for sure. Just please, not another ballad. At least send something like "Always"!

Taste differs xshrug

As I said, it wasn't necessarily a bad song, but it was mechanic.

To me "Hold me" was a bad song. So boring, and it didn't really get anywhere. One of the most undeserved 2nd places, but that's just my opinion.

I hope you send something like ''When Music Dies''. My favourite Azerbaijan's entry, followed by ''Always'' xup

Agreed. "When the music dies" is indeed their best entry! Would have been so much better if they had won with it instead of "Running Scared"!

"Always" and "When the music dies" were the best two songs of Azerbaijan in the whole contest.

Hold me? Drip Drop? Running Scared?
No thanks, we have Melodifestivalen :3

For me,
2012 entry was the best azeri entry ! A combination of jazz and ethnic flavor. And Sabina was outstanding.
2011 & 2013 entries,were not something special,but 1)there were in weak esc-years 2)there were good on stage 3)both televoting & juries friendly.
2009 entry was not my cup of tea,but people liked it.
BUT the rubbish of 2010 that made a top-5 result, was a music crime.

2011 good on stage? Anyways, I doubt it won fairly (even if the year was weak), it was one of those moments where everyone was looking at each other like "What song just won!?". I wouldn't say it's a bad song, because it's actually a quite decent poppier take at Eskobar feat. Heather Nova's "Someone New", but still winning whole ESC? Nah...

2012 (another Swedish import again ), was indeed their best entry to date. I would have preferred it to have more ethnic elements to it though and I would have much preferred if they sent the Azeri version of it instead "Gel". Not sure if I'd call it jazz though, perhaps a bit jazz-influenced, but I'd say it's more on the Pop side than jazz still. Though, it does reminds me a bit of Neneh Cherry's "Woman" from 1996, don't you think?

Oh, and don't get me started on that "Drip Drop" rubbish

Because it's so amateur and it's wasting her vocals  During the whole performance she's so out of place, you can tell she's been drilled to act like Beyoncé but she clearly can't pull it off credibly

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

Let's hope they won't! I mean they're becoming a joke even with all these imports, the only signal they're sending to Europe is that they got no local talents what-so-ever. If there's any country that should NOT import an entry this time around, it's definitely Azerbaijan.
