Re: AZERBAIJAN 2012

Sabina is kind of hot ;) I'm rooting for her.

I really hope for a folk ballad in Azeri language, I think her voice would fit in well aswell, plus it would be a nice way to finally represent the music of the country

Sabina performing a folky ballad would be the best option in this NF.

I'm afraid this won't happen :( (as the entry) it's gonna be a "polished" Swedish song again.

That'd be ridiculous seriously. Seeing all these "proud" Azeris, and they are hosting and all now, and yet they have to rely on work from other countries?

Where's the self-esteem?

Maybe a real Azeri entry this time as they don't have to root for winning this year, well not as they wanted the previous years

Well that too, but then again it's kind of sad that ESC has come to this.. that to win you need to hire some Swedish guys to make some generic English song.

I really want the rules to change, songs should be written and composed by citizens only. ESC is about representing your country so therefor I believe it should showcase your country's talents, otherwise it's kind of a useless concept.

 @ "Play"

Obvious case of when someone sings without knowing the words.

But I still think she's the best option though.

Well That is right but it can be different country.. however at the end we decided Swedish song. Also we love Swedish songs :D

Well Swedish was just an example since that's been the case in 3/4 times.

It's nice to hear, but as a Swede myself I'd be more excited to hear an Azeri song :)

See that it will be risk. Cause look at few countries who return to their own and what they got result. First time when we joined it was our song. But it didn't go to top 3. After Arash we started to look at Swedish menu. Most country doing that for example, Russia took song from USA.. But in general you are right. I hope this time we will take our own and I dont thing so this time we gonna fight for the first place.

Russia took from the USA? When? Because in 2011 it was RedOne who is Swedish/Moroccan producer or you mean 2008?

So what if it's a risk? Your debut managed a great position and imo the song was quite bad (I believe you can do better for sure). It is about representing your country, not just ending up top. 3 with some compromise which has nothing to do with your country at all.

I think Azerbaijan really wanted to win. Now that it has won, the pressure will be lower and maybe they'll be bolder and more original in their song presentation. Because "Always", "Drip Drop" and "Running Scared" all screamed "I WANNA WIN THIS CONTEST!!!!"

And all examples of why rules of this contest must change imo.

Ukraine won without a compromise, Serbia one without a compromise... many did in the past, why all of a sudden we must hire Swedish writers and send some bland stuff in English to win? Something is really wrong with ESC.

2013 = NO more foreign writers/composers imo! I am ready to send a petition to EBU. I honestly think ESC will become more interesting if countries weren't so desperate to win.

The NF takes a break next week.
The semi can be hosted in the end of January. The final - in February.

according to some rumors the song will be /is composed by V. Gerayzade and it will be bilingual (Azeri/English) - they are just rumors but I hope it is true.
