Kleine Zeitung reported that this year ORF invited only 7 acts to the live castings. One of them is Philip Piller, a very talented singer/ songwriter who took part at the songwriting camp. maybe we will get german lyrics form Austria this time.

Oh god please no. His style and his songs are very annoying in my opinion. Well at least his voice in combination with these heavy German songs. If he gets selected then please with an English song. But either way I’m not too keen on his style and his vocal tone.

I am not that negative about him but like you I am not very excited about the idea to send him to eurovision.

Well, Pilip Piller reminds me a lot of Mark Forster or Max Giesinger. I´m not entirely against this kind of music but I don´t think this would work at the ESC since it´s too reliant on understanding the lyrics.

thats exactly what I think too. he is a very good singer but his greatest strength is the songwriting. he has written wonderful lyrics. but he does not have the stage presence for such a big international stage.

I hope it will either be Johannes (could be interesting!) or Philip (hopefully in German)! Could be acts that I would like! :)

Very underwhelming artist selection tbh. Nothing there that I can imagine to like. But let’s hope for a unexpected surprise.

@Insiders: Is there a frontrunner? A song that stands out compared to the others? (Without telling me names of course)

i think it comes down to 2, one is imo the strongest song but stilistically maybe a bit too close to something that was successful in the most recent years, which i think could end up being the argument against it. not so sure if the second one is exciting enough for eurovision imo

After Austria's last entries, I just want something authentic.
2022 was catchy and fun but I don't wanna see Eurovision as a graveyard for "one-performance-artists" or a platform to send newly formed duos/groups who will last for 2 singles max. (or even just one if you look at :de: S!sters) - or getting some outdated reject from another country performed by a dancer who's not pursuing a career as a singer.

Kudos to Austria for qualifying in those years, though - but it's time to present something which may "last" or represented the Austrian music market in a better way.

Well, many adjectives come to my mind when I think about "Amen", but "catchy" and "funny" aren´t among them.

Typo. - I meant 2023. Thanks for pointing it out.

Personally, I liked "Amen" but it didn't feel organic either - it was an ESC-tailored entry which didn't come across as Vicent's "usual style".

I think that Austria can do better in terms of representation (hopefully).

2022 was "authentic" but damn boy, those vocals were a heinous crime to humankind
