Look at the poll here. 45,3% out of 214 votes are a 12. I mean ... isn't this a prime example of the difference between the taste of Eurovision fans and that of the average Eurovision viewer.

His comments are funny considering his bands "popularity". 1190 listeners on Spotify. Even Piqued Jacks have more listeners (500k) but sure, Eurovision is a grave for the artists. I always find it funny when local artists who are often not even popular in their own country talk bad about the contest and the artists who perform at Eurovision.

Really have no idea how ORF thought he would be a good juror if he doesn´t even like the contest as a whole. xfacepalm

It's really great that people who never watch Eurovision come up with so many nonsense arguments.

I think that Maneskin, Rosa Linn, Marco Mengoni, Jamala, Loreen, Abba, Celine Dion, Lena, Alexander Rybak, Sam Ryder, Duncan Laurence and even interval acts such as Madcon beg to differ.

He placed :de: last : D I mean, come on...

One member of the Austrian jury mentioned how he saw the contest (in German):

Be warned, it´s a lot of nonsense. xfacepalm
He doesn't even have a career that he could bury, what a stupid take.
People like that make me so mad.

"Oh it's all about the show :c" ??? It's a big event once a year, so you want to make something special? If I wanted to see a hipster stand on stage, stiff like a board with the charisma of a doormat, I could go to any local club here and see that ten times in a row. Why would I want that on an international stage? Showmen and -women are this beloved for a reason, not anyone can do what they do, you don't see that everywhere else.

And putting LOTL last, like really? That shows how biased he just was in his judgement. He ranked the songs based on personal preference and nothing else, any grandma could've done that. You are supposed to judge the song on other factors than that, based on your knowledge about music. The vocals of Chris alone put them out of the Bottom 5. People like him are the reason the jury is just worthless currently. And then he has the audacity to be such an arrogant prick, doesn't even understand the assignment he got.

My german is a bit rusty, but I can understand most of it. I think it is hilarious how he is speaking as if the contest would miss him, saying that "real art and music is not appreciated in the contest". I took a sneak peak at his band and they don't make great music as well. Also him putting Italy first means personal beef.

Trotz einer offenbar guten Arbeitserfahrung ist er auch nach dieser Tätigkeit „kein großer Fan des Wettbewerbs“, wie er auf Instagram schrieb.

I mean I can't blame him, he not only listened to the whole of Semi 2, he also rated them.

About Austria's entry. I liked it when the music video came out and watched some reaction videos. It was well received.
In my opinion the staging was terrible, the color scheme, outfits and everything.
They need to work on their fitness, they are still so young but did not look good. Compere them to the other performers their age.
The other thing is they were a casualty of the Sweden - Finland battle for win where all votes went for them. Running order did not help.

Otherwise I found them very funny and friendly, in particular Salena seems to be lots of fun. Their friendship and support for Käärijä and other competitors made me happy.

Kleine Zeitung writes:

"After its 15th place at the Song Contest in Liverpool, Austria's duo Teya & Salena is still keeping a low profile about further joint projects. "It's up in the stars, even 'Who the Hell is Edgar?" came about spontaneously. So we'll see what we feel like doing," says Styrian Selina Edbauer, aka Salena, who is currently bedridden with a Covid 19 infection. Teya is also working as a songwriter for other artists and will be participating in several songwriting camps in the coming months. The next steps are likely to be recordings as solo artists.

Each of them had applied for the ESC with solo numbers: Teya with the ballad "Easy Waters" in Billie Eilish style, Salena with the danceable midtempo number "Rampapam". In any case, with "Edgar" they managed to enter the Top 50 of the British singles charts, which is remarkable for an Austrian act. The duo also entered the charts in Finland and Sweden. Streaming demand is high: in the Spotify charts, they made it into the top ten in 23 countries.

Therefore, the result of only 16 points in the televoting leaves the record company somewhat at a loss as the public's interest is there. The difference in the final result in Liverpool between 15th place (Austria) and tenth place (Czechia) was only nine points."

Even with a good Running Order this was never going to get more than 25 Televotes.

Well, for Austrians it's always comforting to be the best DACH country, also in the charts.

But this song should have easily scored 140 points starting 21st.
And you base this on what? I loved it but didnt even end up voting for it, the staging didnt fit the song and the energy just was not where it needed to be

This is interesting. Biggest losers between Semi and Final.

what most of these songs have in common, at first sight, is the early running order or the opening slot. Even Sweden got butchered in 2009 with an early run.

Oh yes, the video now reminds me of the time how disappointed I felt when Oskar performed first in 2011. The song was so wholesome and heartwarming and I wanted nothing but the best for him. :(

The guy I've been dating saw "who the hell is edgar" on my last searches last night and asked me what it was. I showed him the music video and we vibed with the song together. I think he is a keeper?

"Who the Hell is Edgar?" I always thought it was a "Halo 2.0". Austria has learned from the mistakes made the previous year but the musical direction is sadly the same (a Dance track).

I appreciated the irony of the text (although it was not easily intuitive for all the Non English speakers), the cheerful sound (although in the Rap parts it seemed like a fully American product), the vocals of Teya & Salena (upgrade compared to Pia Maria) and the commitment to trying to be original. Yes "commitment", because there hasn't been a genuine originality but a fairly constructed one. The search for the word "Poe" to achieve a "viral effect" and the Italian phrases sung in a light Gregorian style seemed to me good choices but nothing sensational after all.

What did I dislike? The bland choreography (upgrade compared to "Halo" where it was absent) and the lesser rendition of the live from the studio version (the performance eventually ended up failing to have the energy and nonconformity it set out to have) .

The Top 15, in a year full of "crazy songs", is a great result. I'm curious to see what the Austrian choice will be next year. I like it as a nation. If he had more constancy he could aspire to much more glorious results.

The staging from Austria was terrible, lost a minimum of 30 points on televotes alone. Would have easily made top 10 with better stage and choreography.
Most points Austria got were from Australia, 13.
