I'm more in shock that ESC Crystal Ball's snippet was, actually, correct.

I feel like a hypocrite for saying this since i dislike the 2000s era with a passion. However...

This is not even the full song.
It totally gives 2000s Eurovision crack vibes.
It will get my ass jumping.
It will be sung by two vocally great singers.
It will have references to American horror writer Edgar Allan Poe.
It will keep us asking "Who the hell is Edgar?"
It is certified camp, trashy, and amazing.
It is the shit.

Fans, HYPE THIS CATASTROPHE
OR ELSE

Love how the general mood went from WTF based on the first snippet to pure fanboy hype based on the second snippet

Newspaper Kurier reports from the press conference

Soft, catchy radio pop played by the Ikea family on Sunday mornings at the breakfast table - that is definitely not Austria's ESC entry in 2023. That the female duo Teya & Salena will compete in the 2nd semi-final of the Eurovision Song Contest this year has been known for quite some time. But now the song "Who the hell is Edgar?" of the two singers has been revealed, which will be heard for the first time on tomorrow's Women's Day in the "Ö3-Wecker" at 7.40 am. And Austria is going for bass this year.

A hard, danceable disco beat that should also catch on in Eastern Europe, slightly surreal lyrics with reference to Edgar Allan Poe as a good spirit that takes possession of you, and a clerical chorus with the onomatopoeic syllable "Poe" - Teya & Salena don't go for cuddly schmaltz, but definitely make a statement. "I don't think you can prepare for this song," Teya emphasized at Tuesday's presentation.

The background of the lyrics is quite a serious one, Teya emphasized: "It's about our experiences as female songwriters. When you speak plainly in a room, you very often have the feeling as a female songwriter that you are not taken seriously. That's a clear difference from my male colleagues."

"These are our own experiences," Salena also emphasized in this context - whereby the fate of two young musicians in an environment full of white, old men is also described with a wink in the accompanying video. For despite all the message, the 24-year-old Styrian Salena also made it clear that the ESC appearance was a childhood dream come true for her and the 22-year-old Viennese Teya. Accordingly, they are trying to approach it in a relaxed manner: "It's only a pressure because everyone is talking to us about it."

Stefan Zechner, head of the ORF delegation, emphasized that the new system of song selection had proved its worth, involving 50 specialist journalists and the international ESC fan clubs: "It was a very open system compared to previous years, not an elitist decision." However, the experienced ESC veteran is reluctant to make a prediction about Austria's performance this year: "The difficulty is that the Song Contest cannot be calculated.

Not Austria coming for our wigs (and bodies) by saving the competition. #sanktpölten2024

Just signed up here for letting you know that the lyrics of the song got leaked in austrian press:

WHO THE HELL IS EDGAR?

Oh my god, you're such a good writer
Oh no it's not me, it's Edgar
Who the hell is Edgar?
There's a ghost in my body
And he is a lyricist
It is Edgar Allan Poe
And I think he can't resist
Yeah his brain is in my hand
And it's moving really fast, mhm
Don't know how he possessed me
But I'm happy that he did
'Cause this song is feeling special
And is gonna make me rich
Yeah the words are spilling out
What the heck is this about, mhm
CHORUS
Oh mio padre, there's a ghost in my body
Ohhhhhhh
Poe, Poe, Poe, Poe, Poe
Poe, Poe, Poe, Poe, Poe
Poe, Poe, Poe, Poe, Poe
Edgar Allan, Edgar Allan
Poe, Poe, Poe, Poe, Poe
Poe, Poe, Poe, Poe, Poe
Poe, Poe, Poe, Poe, Poe
Edgar Allan Poe
Maybe I should call a doctor
Or an exorcist
Maybe someone out there knows where
Shakespeare is
So I can get a taste
What's your IPI where's the A&R
Girl call Universal, you're about to be a star!
CHORUS
Zero dot zero zero three
Give me two years and your dinner will be free
Gas station champagne is on me
Edgar cannot pay rent for me
Zero dot zero zero
Zero dot zero zero
Zero dot zero zero three
At least it pays to be funny
CHORUS
(APA)
