I think they just don't know. Someone should inform them. This is definitely new territory for Lum!x. It also seems to me that the management of Lum!x at Warner Music bears full responsibility here, not ORF. And they don't seem to understand the ESC bubble.

They just did their dance routine with playback. It's a clever move to use the concept of the masked singer. The don't even have to lip synch.
It is also clever to make a special version for those occasions. I first recognized this years ago when Christina Aguilera lip synced at Wetten dass with a special version that even contained a lyrics error to pretend it's live.

Everyone needs to just chill. If it playback then yes I would be stint bit sceptical why it wasn’t live however Turin is more than a month away she still has time to prepare. It extremely unfair to judge ANYBODY vocal ability right now when there is still numerous artist who haven’t performed their song live and seem to be trying their best to avoid doing so.
If pia did use playback she was just simply not ready to perform the song live yet which is fine as the contest is more than a month away.

It doesn't matter for NOW as this is the first public appearance and they have more pre-parties to go, then we can see how confident they are with Pia's vocal abilities. People may say pre-parties don't matter. Sure towards to end result in a way, but it's still an opportunity for the vocalist to practise their vocals to ensure they get comfortable with how they want to present the song 'live' vocally. Plus, pre-parties or any promotional performance is a way to get your song out there and impress people to vote for you. If one is lip-syncing every single performance when there is a chance to do 'live', the pre-parties attendees may as well just listen to the studio track or watch the music video online.

In my opinion the same people are behind this who started the homophobia campaign against Vincent Bueno. And this is not a new phenomenon. Just read what people posted about Conchita in early 2014. They always find a new edge to attack.
In 2015 there was the "drugs" campaign.
In 2016 the "why in French" campaign.
2017 I didn't pay much attention early on.
In 2018 there was a "aren't there real Austrians" campaign.
In 2019 there was the "shoe instead of you" campaign.

Joke aside, I think her live vocals were just drowned by the backing vocals of the instrumental. And since the backing track is allowed this year, this is probably close to how the song will sound on the Eurovision stage as well.

The daily streams show the trend that prevails. Halo was released on March 11th and has since been the 4th most streamed ESC 2022 song with one exception. So one can already say that Halo will overtake rockstars tomorrow at the latest and will then be the 8th most streamed song of this season. Since release Halo has 2,412,888 streams on Spotify.

Thats what I was thinking too. Its probably because "Halo" was written and produced for the ESC-stage and not for the clubs. Probably a club-version would do much better with his fans.
