I wish I was as convinced as you, but I really can't see it being a clear qualifier. But then again I also thought that about Austria 2018, so I hope you're right :D

I thought I was being accused of being a negative b'tch.

Eberhard Forcher is showing first doubts of his selection:

Question:
The first reactions of the listeners were not very positive.

Forcher: Reactions of this intensity have surprised me. This has never happened before. Maybe I overestimated the audience a bit. People expect these typical songs from the radio. "Limits" does not sound like that, that's it, which irritated and fascinated me at the same time. From the radio we are used that nothing may offend. And Pænda's song overwhelmes. Nevertheless, it is a statement in itself, one that we may also allow ourselves after the successful last years.

Given that Portugal crashed out with a sublime performance and their wig was snatched by bland songs like San Marino and Estonia, I am more than ready to accept that our qualification streak ends tonight inspite of a stellar performance.

However, the stars might align just in the right moment for us.

The first semifinal 1 had the Moon sign of Virgo. Virgo is a very technical, pragmatic and rational. For sophisticated soul food music the sunlight is blocked then. A perfect show with visual impact has an advantage over impeccable vocals and songs that pull on your heart strings. Best example is 2016, with Jupiter and the Moon in Virgo, when the countries tried to outperform in each other in terms of a spectacular shows and Russia won the televote in a landslide. In the jury night, Moon was in Leo and the vote went for the royal-esque power ballad of Australia.

So, yesterday and tomorrow, the Moon is in Libra. Moon represents the public and on election days the voters. And Moon in Libra means gentle, delicate and refers to emotional well-being. It conveys a lot of empathy and sympathy and Paenda's song is just about that. People born with Moon in Libra are genuinely interested in the wellbeing of others and they mean when they ask "How do you do?".

Venus and Sun in Taurus also are set for something beautiful, vocally appealing, nothing outrageous. Jupiter in Sagittarius is beneficial for sophisticated, meaningful songs.

This should also bode well for the Netherlands and Denmark. Denmark is a threat though for our qualification but quite cheesy.

On the other hand, Norway, Switzerland, Russia with their circus acts might really not click so much and Sweden's incarnation of a smiley might come across as contrived.

The screaming ladies of Albania and North Macedonia have good messages, while the screaming ladies of Armenia, Moldova and Romania don't have sincere messages and silly circus shows.

So, I am quite optimistic.

Just stumbled across the combined accredited fan and press vote. Not too promising. 13th/18

Cesar came 2nd last in the press poll 2018

I don't recall that and I don't believe it.

Just googled it: Austria was 7th according to this poll last year.

But it got Ireland and Albania wrong (13th and 14th)

Jury Show Semi 1 2018

Not to forget he was dead last in the grand final press poll.

I think the press poll is also heavily based on sympathy. Cesar did not do a lot of interviews or attending partys because he wanted really focus on the performance. From what I have seen Paenda does a better job off stage and is very likable.

That was not the poll I was talking about. I mean the poll of eurovision.votr.se

Of course Austria is always underrated. In the combined press and accredited fan poll Austria last year was 7th for the semifinal and second to last in the Grand Final.

Fortunately, the actual votes come from casual viewers and experts.

There were many "Press-Polls" last year and the odds went also bad for Cesar.
I was very surprised during the semi live show because Cesar was so good and the staging was awesome.

Press means fans in Eurovision...

The difference between Cesar and Paenda though is that Cesar always believed in his act, even when his odds were terrible, while Paenda already like a loser. She talks about the album instead of her song. She did not want to participate with this song to begin with, she was more or less talked into it by Eberhard Forcher.

I believe in this song and the performance, but I am afraid Paenda doesn't. With her bubbly personality she tries to hide that she is beaten up by the negative response and she tries to enjoy her time and nothing more. She should stay true to her own song and not come across as the happiest girl in the world, when she is not. And I am talking bout yoooooou, Paenda, and the pressure on your chest that you deal with so much routine. It's not that I don't care, when there's so much left to dare. See you in the Final! xrose

I don't get this vibe from Paneda at all. I think she wants the public to know that she's a full-fledged artist and not just some vessel, who sings a songs that was written for the ESC, which is the way the ORF has advertised her from the beginning on and which makes her stand out quite a lot from the others.

01 I Like The Way You Hate Me (I think she meant something else than "hate" with the same amount of letters:lol:) 8/10
02 Like a Domino (I have no Sara Aalto allergy ) 7/10
03 Filler (I'm addicted to the song since AAMA, the best among the best) 10/10
04 Love Myself (chorus to sing along, can't be played in the US) 9/10
05 Limits (everything is said and done) 10/10
06 So Loud (powerful) 8/10
07 All The Right Things (something to snap along) 8/10
08 Everything I'm Not (radio friendly, love it) 10/10
09 Wavebreaker (disclaimer: I can't stand Evolution I, this is a reminder why) 2/10

In her latest IG-Story she sings beautifully and actually DOES look like a Panda, as she said quite often. Get that Promo!

I have predicted since the very first time i listened to this that she will be dark horse and she will qualify easily. However i'm not good at predctions since i was sure that Portugal would qualify easily. Hopefully i will be right this time. ;)
