Of course it can be one of the best ballads this year for you. No opinion should be affected by what other fans think. Opinions are subjective and should be respected by anyone.
But it wasn't stated as an opinion, but stated as a fact. That's something different and considering how things are at the moment for Austria, Limits can't objectively be seen as 'by far the best ballad of this year'.
Very true - but for any ballad. Because as you rightly say - opinions must not be stated as facts. But in the kingdom of taste, it is difficult to find a valid scale that would measure "objectively" what would be the best ballad/uptempo/.... song. I appreciate much more if someone can give arguments why he/she thinks that for him/her this or that song is the best one. Arguments that go beyond the "oh that gives me goosebumps" or "oh this is so modern/different/...." Of course this would need more time to write (and to read) and we (myself included) often don't take this time - unfortunately.
So I would definitely not say that it's the best song for me this year. The best ballad... haven't thought about that too intensively but here are two arguments why I came to like our entry quite a lot:
First of all - it's a 100% Paenda's own work and expression. You can't get more authentic writing / composing AND singing your song. This is what fascinates me for instance when looking to the classical singer-songwriters like Brel, Brassens or Vian in France, like Wolf Biermann or Rainhard Mey in Germany or others.
Then - looking at the lyrics - I find them quite poetic. They don't tell a simple story like so many other songs (oh, you left me - I'm so sad - why did you do this to me, who loves you still so much.... or of that kind). When reading the lyrics there are multiple scenarios, that you can imagine. That's what poetic means for me: creating images and stories in your mind instead of just putting one of them before you. At this point I'm already at the verge of subjective taste, because I can imagine that the lyrics don't do this for others and are just meaningless. But I think I made clear why I like them, even if others can't relate to it.
As for the music: I can't find an explanation why I like the melody - perhaps I'll have one in the days ahead. For the moment: it just gives me goosebumps.
