the best song wins !!! I like the studio version, this is an excellent pop-commercial, where you can transmit a message,in fact I hope they fix the staging (this is totally the most negative aspect of the song, the staging seemed very confusing to me) , I see this as a safe qualifier in May .

in the studio version I gave 8.3 (1 place overall)
in the live would be by 7.7 (2 place overall behind albania)

8 (low) points in the poll

if the staging works well in May, it could do very well on my top xheat

my heart fully supported Raw Stuff, but I knew it would never win, great music on a weak NF, happy to see it in 4 place

Just the state Australia is in when Proud wins the televote is something I can't really wrap my head around.

YES how can people be salty about montaigne when that absolute atrocity almost won? i would take anyone but jack vidgen over her to be honest.

Y'all said that about "Zero Gravity"and then you were like "omg queen, winner, amazing ! etc, so"... We don't even have seen the final package (you have almost 3 months to be prepared for this).
There had been quite a lot of us who loved Zero Gravity from the very beginning, it just got overshadowed by so many people being disappointed because Electric Fields didn't make it.
I enjoyed Montaigne's intro video and I think she must be a very nice person. But even having listened to her song 5 times, I don't remember anything from it at all. I don't see it going places, though staging can always help of course.

I know Montaigne was leaking votes with that staging. That's just what happens when your vocals are shoddy and the staging is just not working for you. I thought that those votes would pretty much automatically go to Jaguar, because that was just awesome, but that is not what happened. I'm just missing something obvious here, but I don't know what.

It seems like many people are so accustomed to 'entertainment' like The Voice and such that they are just focused on who has the best vocals. That would give an explanation, because Proud did feature the best vocals.

The only thing I'm f***ing, is stupid
The song itself is fine, nothing really spectacular but decent. Still overly safe and generic like usual for Australia...
I do like the song and Montaigne is a great performer, but sending the same monotone entries does no flavor for our dear country down under.

The biggest issue here is the staging, but they can indeed polish this. They have 3 more months to polish this entry like what they successfully did with Kate's staging last year. I think it can be top 5 in the jury vote depending on the competition, but the staging need to convince the audience as this can be potentially be lost in the running in May.
So yes, the keyword for a top 10 placing is, "polish".

Not to mention Kate mastered her vocals from day one. Montaigne will have to work on hers tbh, she seriously gives me Mauboy realness at the moment.

Just caught them all now. Diana Rouvas has a gift. With the right song, maybe a 90s RnB throwback, she can storm to a top 5 placing in the final. I truly hope she comes back. Such powerful, refined talent — and that range? What a treat that was.

Absolutely, Electric Field played a huge role in the bashing of the song but still, a lot of people that hadn't followed the national selection didn't like the song. I think the opposite, I listened to the song a couple of times and yesterday evening, it was stuckin my head, especially the "don't break me, don't break me down, down, doww" part.

I think the explanation you search for is "quite quirky for the average viewer". Still, I expected her a lot higher. The running order could also partly be to blame.

What I can see about Montaigne from the few months that I've followed her is that she's pretty open when it comes to ideas, even when she's really conceptual. To note, the promo picture of 'Don't Break Me' is actually more reminiscent of a glass doll. She probably tried the clown aesthetics to see the reception. As the reception is mostly negative, I think she will ditch it.

I really hope she will go the glass doll way in Rotterdam. It's way more fitting and she won't have a lot of lost breaths inbetween lyrics.

Great show Australia, not my favorite song won but good luck. I prefer the studio version and I'm sure she will polish up on the live vocals, I think I need to hear live vocals in the future before I can decide fully on this song.

I loved "Zero Gravity" at the first sight and still prefer her NF performance.

Tumblr, mostly.
that's a basic non-argument used mostly by people who, ironically, love a bunch of unoriginal songs anyway. shaj fans had a blast with this word earlier this season even though, you know, fik winner 101.
Shaj getting revamped into a generic pop ballad is SUCH a slap in the face of the snobs who cheered when it beat Me Tana xheart Definitely my favourite serve of sweet delicious Karma during the 2020 NF season so far.

The vocal argument was really working here. Casey did have the best pipes in the night. But also a reminder, Casey is the biggest name in the list (aside Vanessa of course). She has a lot of fans, and also the biggest following on Instagram as well. I don't think winning the televote would be a big problem for her with that big of a fanbase. As of Jack Vidgen, well...

For Jaguar herself, she's one of the smallest artist in this list. Yes, she's good, her song is great, her staging is also great, but she doesn't have that big support. Even that 20-something points was a great achievement for a newcomer like her.
