Most Brits collectively doubt Aram's abilities. It's quite a curious phenomenon. :)

*waits for explosive/insulting comments*

Take a joke, people.

What is also curious is that the majority of staunch defenders of Aram in this thread are Armenians.

I feel like people are deluding themselves into thinking this is gonna become a runaway winner.

It's not.

I don't even see it picking up enough of a casual vote to win.

And yes I'm British but that has nothing to do with this so I don't care if the Armenians get butthurt

Nothing against Emma or "La mia cittá" at all, but I bet if Aram MP3 had done this he would have been slayed in this thread

I agree. I think it's a great song for the most part, but it's not exactly light listening, like most songs that have won recently. The average viewer who watches it without knowing anything about the songs might think "what just happened?" instead of "well that was nice" after it's over. I also can't imagine how they're going to make it look good on the Eurovision stage, although I'd like to be proven wrong.

Betting odds are usually right about the winner. They only failed in 2011 with Azerbaijan, but they were high enough though.

They are usually wrong about everything else but the top-5, but odds are here to predict the winner after all.

The oddschecker in the win market does include E/W bets which certainly clouds the actual figure. In 2011 at this stage Azerbaijan were 9th in the betting but below 20/1 just. So these were the betting favourites for the majority of the time leading up to the contest.

2013 Denmark
2012 Sweden
2011 France
2010 Azerbaijan
2009 Norway
2008 Russia
2007 Ukraine and Serbia
2006 Greece and Sweden joint
2005 Greece
2004 Greece and Serbia Montenegro
2003 Russia and Spain
2002 Spain and Germany
2001 Greece and Denmark
2000 Estonia and UK

So 6(1/2ish) of 14 contests where the bookies favourite won.

This has always been quite a mediocre song to me from the beginning on. I was really surprised when I read it is an odds' favourite. It's difficult to perform live so I have a feeling that it will score at about 5th at most, maybe worse. There are many ballads this year and, for example, Norway, also Spain and Austria are at an advantage over Armenia, because they have a.) better voices and b.) they sound more spectacular on stage. Sorry Armenia, it's not that I don't like the song but I don't think it's anything special.

I really don't get why people are going crazy over this. It's nothing much. It has some great music in the second half of the song but that's about it. 5 points.

My point is that all the Armenians on this forum are defending Aram. It would be refreshing for an Armenian to come out and say "You know what, Aram is an arse for what he said!". It's just a little predictable that as soon as someone says anything negative about Aram, the Armenians arrive within minutes and start foaming at the mouth. The sympathisers as well, including a Spaniard who seems to live in Armenia now, at least according to the national flag. I thought that was against forum rules...or was that changed?

I must say though, that I enjoy the forum warfare currently going on. It makes things interesting up until the contest. Not like there is anything else to talk about.

Thank you Mrm for your lovely comment about Kilmacolm. It is indeed a beautiful place to live. :)
