I hate that attitude that somehow you'd be "unsophisticated and uneducated" if you like that, and if you like pretentious dated music (like most of FiK is) then somehow you would be more "sophisticated". To me that's just pure bullsh*t.
Obviously Kenga would be a better selection method for Albania, FiK is living in another decade.... and if the FiK officials would say that the Albanian entries of 2009-2011, 2013 would be somehow "sophisticated" I'd just laugh at them. But yeah, I know that FiK always closed their doors to modern and actual contemporary Albanian music (unfortunately).
However, the main issue with FiK is how out of touch and pretentiously dated it is and that they've yet to open up for the contemporary Albanian music scene. Aurela Gace is a good example, she had a great hit the year prior FiK with Origjinale, but what we got in FiK was a tuneless, boring and über-pretentious attempt at "rock".
I thought Albania 2009 to 2011 were great entries especially "Carry Me In Your Dreams" and "It's All About You" which were wonderful pop songs. I love FiK. It might be different to all the other selections but thats what sets it apart. It's special and it's clear a lot of work goes into it. It might be "dated" but it's dated in the best kind of way. When music actually felt sincere and human as apposed to plastic. If only ESC allowed live music. I hope Albania carry on selecting their entrant from Fik.. and what other country would have selected Rona? None which is why FiK needs to stay
