WHAT A GAME! xheatxheatxheatxheatxheatxheat

Both teams feel like winners and should be proud!

To me, both Germany and Norway were equal. It really could have gone either way. Literally, the final, last-seconds attack decided the outcome.

Well, that didn´t go as expected. xshrug

Congrats to :es:, because they were better tonight. They were more focused, good goalkeeper (not Sterbik, but that other one), solid shots from centre and counterattacks.

With that said, I don´t think that we played badly this time. This was much better than those games from previous competitions where we were terrible to watch (like against Poland on the last world cup, or against Denmark on wc 2013 etc.). Also, we had multiple chances to make a comeback.
Unfortunately, we cracked somewhere during the end of the first half, when Spain caught up and went on 3 to 4 goal difference.

Either way, they were more determined, focused and experienced than us. I´m still proud of our performance and that we made it this far (once again, I didn´t even expect that we would be in the semis).

I´m only sad that we cracked now after all the effort, sweat and hardwork that our players put in in order to reach the semi final.
I´m hoping for the best in the future (hopefully our team IS still determined for the bronze).

*sigh*, it would have been so fun to play against :de:......................

xcheer :de: EUROPEAN CHAMPION 2016 :de: xcheer

This must have been the best performance of a goalkeeper ever... Wolff had a rate over 50% saved shots. He should be a national hero, somebody gotta build a statue of him. xheat But the whole defense was fantastic. I'm over the moon right now :D That was unexpected I thought we would fail in the second group stage :D

Congratulations Germany! Very unexpected winner, I thought Germany could do pretty well, but already a place in the semi was surprising, but winning it all, so cool! :D
And that means that you go to Olympics, while Spain will be up against Slovenia, Iran and Sweden. Spain should sail through, but we got a great chance for 2nd place, so crossing fingers for that! :D

Other Olympic qualification groups:
Poland, Macedonia, Chile, Tunisia - Poland and Macedonia should sail through.
Denmark, Croatia, Norway, Bahrain - Oh god, what a group! I can only tell that Bahrain is totally out. One great team will miss Olympics, which is sad. :(

Congratulations :de: :D I don't want to play a prophet now, but before the tournament started I was thinking "Poland, France, Spain and Denmark are biggest favourites to win it, but we shouldn't forget about Germany......". I'm glad that nation with so big handball's traditions, are on the top again + they have played a amazing final game.

I'm also happy that :es: are big losers again. Don't get me wrong, I don't have any negative attitude towards whole country and nation. I just don't like your national team. Do you remember, when Maqueda hit Weinhold straight in the face? Karma comes back.

Moving through Germany
Yes, that was impressive. The defense and especially goalie Wolff nailed it today xbow
I'm not that keen of handball, but I focus on it at the great tournaments and also watch the results of the german league from time to time, although it's very boring, even the football league is more interesting

This time I only knew one player before, would've been two if Gensheimer weren't injured, the rest left me wondering about the world champions from 2007. I see most of them are still playing at big clubs here, but when I remember of the latest results from the national team in the championships it seems better they're no longer part :D

Great weekend for Germany. First grand slam winner of this century, back at the top in handball. The stories are great. And olympic qualification is the cherry top. I was already disappointed that the volleyball teams of Germany have no chance to qualify anymore, one reason less for me to follow the summer olympics that enthusiastic as the winter sports :D. And if Spain would've won tonight, then Germany had to face the hardest group with Norway and Croatia. Luckily these champions avoided that xheat

JamieBrown Don't worry about absence of Germany volleyball's team at Summer Olympics mate, it's not your fault ;) It's just FIVB and especially Ary Graca, who prefer to make a qualifying tournament with Algeria, Chile, Mexico and Tunisia than have 5+ strong European teams in the Rio de Janeiro.

Actually our coach Dagur Sigurðsson will be facing some difficult decisions soon...
What will he do with Gensheimer, Groetzki, Wienczek and 3-4 other players who missed the Euro due to injury? In general these players are still the best we have in Germany (especially Gensheimer & Groetzki) and they prove this every week in the Bundesliga... then again, it would be fair obvious to put the trust in the young players who won the Euro because they can be considered as heroes. It would be kind of rude to neglect them again as soon as the "best" players are back.
I hope Dagur will find a good mixture. Players Like Fäth and Häfner must play a role in the Olympia team, that's sure for me. :)
