I don't get the existence of this event all of a sudden xthink
It wasn't advertized anywhere in France, and I discovered it when watching Lady Gaga's performance by chance on Youtube.

On one hand, I think it's great to have such an event at European level, but on the other hand, the real Olympics are planned for next year and it feels like a duplication.

I Wonder how it will go in the future and how often they want to organize this xthink

Anyway, Azerbaijan spent a lot in facilities, that's very impressive.

As long as there are no Athletics events and no real Swimming events in the European Games the medal table isn't meaningful at all. I also missed Track cycling and Equstrian.
In general it seems that the emphasis was too much on combat sports. Boxing, wrestling, Judo, Karate, Taekwando, fencing and a sport that I dont even know called "Sambo". On the other hand I think it's a good idea to include Beach soccer in the program cause it's a nice entertaining sports that doesn't get the public attention it deserves.
Germany can be satisfied with the the results. 66 medals, so clearly the number 2 behind the dominating Russia. I think we should have won some more golden medals. 16 is a bit meh and that's why Great Britain is once again ahead us like in the last two Olympic Games.
Germany's individual sports are still in a crisis, because there is a lack of promotion and a lack of financial support for many athletes. That's why I cross my finger that Hamburg will be elected as a host for Olympics 2024, that would cause a positive effect to our sports.

I had not many interest in here, because my favourite sports were not in or with youth competitions or something else. At least the Volleyball competition was taken serious and so I'm very happy about our gold medal there. Great how this team improves from a small contender for the QF's to a medals candidate in World Championships xheya

Looks like volleyball was taken seriously only by Germany, because all the top teams are focused on the World League with their main team. Germany withdrew to participate in WL this year because they rather wanted to reach points in the Euro ranking which will effect on the Olympic Games qualification. Nevertheless, Germany has their best generation in years, and thinking of a medal in Rio 2016 is actually realistic.
