Sweden - Denmark 24-27

Both teams were qualified to the semi beforehand so there was nothing to play for in the table.

But since there's always a fair share of prestige and good ol' rivalry in these games I'm of course extremely happy that we defeated the Swedes.

The fact that we beat them on old Danish land in Malmø makes the victory taste even sweeter. :p

8 matches and we're still unbeaten. Hopefully Spain won't change that. The last time we reached a semi-final in World Cup was (according to our commentators) in the 1960's so I'm glad we finally broke the curse. :D

Thanks Peter :D Too bad you lost from Norway though :( I saw a bit of that match.

Our play is generally much worse than against Poland, if we played like this against them we would've lost with at least 5 goals of difference, but Argentina is weaker than us, and it was enough.

We will play against Norway for 9th place on the championship on Thursday, and it will be our last match.

In France, it's a real shame that we can't see one of these matches if we don't have a satellite reception and pay fees to private tv...
Hopefuly, if France is in final, maybe the public tv will broadcast the game, I mean if they pay all the rights in time (video test pattern is fun but not for 40 minutes during a final...)

There was no need to play this game like you guys did. Why play your stars? Let them rest like we did. Plus this match has no prestige since it was just a match to play "for fun".

I hope to see you in the final. ;)

Hmm...nothing to play for? I'm kinda happy that we managed to avoid France for now. :p

I read some articles on expressen.se and aftonbladet.se after the match and the reactions about losing against us hence meeting France in the semi weren't that positive.

Would be cool with a final between Denmark and Sweden though, but let's see what happens. ;)

It's like choosing between pest and colera, ya know. Spain or France. Baguettes or Flamenco? So it will be hard for us both.

Omfg, WE'RE IN DA FINAL! WOHOOOOOOOOOOOO :D xjump

I just can't believe it. Everything has just worked out for us in this competition. Amazing audience and support in each match, great players, and a winning spirit. Not to mention Landin, our keeper, who possibly played the match of his life against Spain. :D

France will be a much tougher opponent and I'm looking forward to sunday like a little child before christmas...I mean, who knows when we'll ever get the opportunity to play in a final again? :p

Now I'm off to celebrate this victory

We finished the competition on 5th place. Last match with Iceland 34 -33 for us. We reached the OG, that gold is achieved...maybe it could go better maybe it couldn't. Anyway it is too late for comments "what would be if it would be" etc. I won' t say I am content with the result so I think I ll do my best to forget this as soon as possible. More luck next time to us (in Serbia 2012, EC) :).

The final between France and Denmark will be very exciting today :D

Serbia lost from Norway as well. Typical, just like all our previous defeats. If handball was a game which lasts 30 minutes we would have been a favorite for a medal, and this way....we are just 10th

But next European championship is in :rs: so I hope for a better result there, even though this itself is not too bad, considering things in our handball association and handball in :rs: generally.

Yeah, congrats :fr: for the title! Too bad for :dk:, but silver medal is also fantastic, u should be happy and celebrate too! And :es: got bronze:D

C-ya next year for the EURO Handball @ Serbia!

(btw, about Olympics 2012 - I read that Olympic qualifications r still open, and there will be few additional tournaments this year, so European teams from this world cup such as - Serbia, Slovakia, Germany, Austria, Romania can still qualify for OI.). Cool:D

At least we fought till the very end...but that won't help my massive disappointment about this match. Gold was so close and losing in extra time hurts even more. X-OI

Maybe we invented the game but France has definitely taken it to another level and will probably win again in Serbia and whoever host the World Cup next time...so....congratulations France.

I also rooted for Denmark :( Denmark should be proud of their handball, because you guys play the most beautiful handball in the world ;) It was pleasure watching you.
Also, congrats France. I hope one day someone will beat you

About Croatia. We need new coach and better goalkeepers. This was a big disappointment for me. They suck
5th place is too much when I remember how bad we were during the whole tournament.

This is All Star Team:

Left wing: Harvard Tvedten (Norway)

Right wing: Vedran Zrnic (Croatia)

Pivot: Bertrand Gille (France)

Left back: Mikkel Hansen (Denmark)

Centre back: Dalibor Doder (Sweden)

Right back: Alexander Petersson (Iceland)

Goalkeeper: Thierry Omeyer (France)

Most valuable player: Nikola Karabatic (France)
