^It's such a shame. No need a word.. I'm just ashamed...

Turkey beat Puerto Rico with only 2 points, 79-77. Even we won we had played totally awful. We're guaranteed the first place in the group.. and will probably be matched with New Zealand. I guess they recover themselves before the next matches.

The irony is that Serbia won against Australia and lost to Germany, but in football they lost against Australia and won against Germany. :? Lithuania is leading to France 13+ and I am so glad about that. Also, Germany lost to Angola and USA stormed against Iran.

The most interesting 1/8-final games:

Turkey vs. France
Spain vs. Greece

and a huge derby between
Serbia vs. Croatia

Well...what can I say..finally knockout stage. Until now this was a bit boring...cause it was clear from beginning which 4 teams will advance and which 2 will not or almost clear.
Serbia ended this phase at 1st place of group A (won against Argentina tonight in a difficult match, yet I can't understand how we managed to lose by 1pt from Germany who didn't even qualify in next round).
Next match Serbia - Croatia. It will be fun to watch, but I'll be at work on Saturday afternoon/evening:(
CRO will be very motivated.
I like Lithuanian and Slovene performance so far xclap
(in general, ex-YU rocks in basketball :rs::sl::hr: ) (OT - and water polo)

Bourousis and Tanjevic have a heated tete-a-tete

After the end of Greece-Russia game and Russia's win which was "questionable" to say the least, Greek center Bourousis exchanged some heated words with Turkey's coach Bogdan Tanjevic.

There was much speculation as to whether Greece and Russia would want to win today's game (loser would probably avoid Spain and USA in the next rounds) and that sparked some tension between many sides. But let's get more specific:

Everything started after the final whistle of the game which found Russians as the winners.

Tanjevic who was watching the game from the first row of the stands (Turkey plays against China in some minutes in the same arena) approached the Greek bench right after the game ended and ironically clapped and told Bourousis: "Congratulations, you did the same thing for the second consecutive year" (meaning Greece had given away the game to France in last Eurobasket).

Of course that did not satisfy the short tempered Greek center who moved towards Tanjevic and in turn told him something. Word after word the arena security guards (and Kazlauskas later on) had to come in between the two men in order for thing not to escalate.

Russian team coach David Blatt had also something to say about the game: "Greeks should be ashamed. What we saw was comedy, not basketball. Greeks shot to miss, on the other hand my players played with passion..."

I have to say I am more than happy with the :rs: performance so far. We managed to defeat Argentina yesterday, and thus end first in our group. The biggest surprise for me is the German elimination, as they managed to defeat us and they were close to beat Argentina as well. Those were their best matches it seems.

It looks like Germany did what Serbia did in football. We defeated Germany, got eliminated by an african country and Australia. This time they defeated Serbia, and got eliminated by Australia and an african country

Looking forward to the Serbian match against Croatia. Our next opponent will be Spain probably, and one of the big contenders for the medal will thus be eliminated. Too bad, but we can make it.

It was simply fantastic! I though we could win but with 18 points margin is way more than being good against France.
Slovenia is the next.. gonna be a tough match too. They're a quite good team and they've got audience advantage almost as much as we do. At least it's gonna be an excited match to watch.
Good luck guys ;)

I think Croatia sucks in basketball and not rocks
Unbelievably how we manage to lose our games in last seconds  I think we are the biggest losers in basketball

Congrats to Serbia, you're far better team ;)

No, Croatia is quite good and very decent in basketball, u managed to reach round of top16 in the World and that's not little. Especially for small countries like Cro, Srb, Slo, this is very good result. I mean, some way bigger countries suck in basketball much more than Croatia.
And this crazy things in last second r becoming our tradition with Croatia (lol), but one day Cro will win Srb in last second, as well;)
Btw, I find it funny how we meet often in sports lately, only in last 4 days several times (US open girls, U21 football, W.Basket and possibly Euro Waterpolo)

Please Serbia in Final

?
How do u mean u want Serbia in final? LOL. It would mean there's no Turkey in final (?)
We can't meet in final, because we're in same half of the draw, which means:
Serbia - Spain
Slovenia - Turkey
2 of these teams will meet in semi-final, 1 of these teams will be in final.
I predict final will be between Spain and USA;)
And with not very excellent play of Serbia so far, I think we have no chance against Spain, but I hope our team will do their best, if it won't be enough for victory, that's OK too.

Totally agree :D

I am totally angry @ how we played against Croatia(and that was your best match on the other hand), that was our worst match on this world cup, but we had three tough matches in a row, and players are tired.

Spain is obviously the hardest team we will meet so far, and we will have to sweat ourselves very well, and to play very aggressively. If we play soft, we have no chances They are not unbeatable....it's a shame as both Serbia and Spain deserve a medal, and one of us will be eliminated on Wednesday. But I believe that Serbia has a chance to pass (sorry Pablo  )
