Just like when Turkey was in the Euro final at home ground, they were under a pressure that this is a final game. I think the pressure was too much for the Turks and in the last two quarters they were confused and didn't profit from the mistakes that USA made. Anyway, USA were definitely better. Congratulations to them. First title since 1994. It has been a while and last time it was Shaq O'Neil who won the MVP. This time it is Durant. Also congrats to Turkey for doing well in this championship. Defeating countries like Puerto Rico, France, Greece, Slovenia (with ease) and Serbia at the end is big and hard task. Serbia came back strong after a poor performance in the last world championship. Lithuania did surprisingly well and they are off to host the EURO championship.

Just a random fact. Did you knew that Taiwan (formerly known as Formosa) was 4th in the World Championship in 1959?? :D

Congrats to USA players, they really play the best basket on this Champs!!!!

Next Euro Champ will be very interesting, in particular will be interesting to watch the young and excellent team of Lithuania, Serbia and France.
Spain will certainly try to return to the top and defend the title, Germany will also be dangerous!
Croatia also has a great young and promising team, there is a very good Slovenia, excellent Greece would be there too!
It will be a very uncertain struggle for Olympic visas for London!

The European Championship in Lithuania will have 24 teams instead of 16. :? In a way its good, but I am not very fond of this idea. It's a pity for Great Britain, Belgium, Israel, Macedonia and Montenegro who tried hard and qualified, yet FIBA allowed 8 more teams to qualify.

I think it's better to have 24 teams, for countries who qualified it's no shame cause they gain more experience and practice and can be more confident:D FIBA said they will have 24 teams cause now basketball is good and popular in almost all euro countries, but I think they introduce more teams just to earn more money, but anyway..I like the decision, 16 teams in european championship was really too little, imo.

Anyway, congrats to USA :us: for winning the world championship:cool:

And here r the final standings:
1 USA
2 Turkey
3 Lithuania
4 Serbia
5 Argentina
6 Spain
7 Russia
8 Slovenia
9 Brazil
10 Australia
11 Greece
12 New Zealand
13 France
14 Croatia
15 Angola
16 China
17 Germany
Puerto Rico
Iran
Lebanon
21 Côte d'Ivoire
Canada
Jordan
Tunisia

Well...now looking forward to European basketball championship;)

Hurray! Then Sweden (who is playing better and better it seems, especially with Jonas Jerebko in the team) might get there in a few years time! :D

Btw, how is Asik's eye?

He was hit in the hand in the semi match, and he "lost his eye".....interesting, and it is "just" a coincidence that he is a worst free throwings performer.

Also, from one video (which is sent to FIBA) it can be seen that Tunceri scored the last two points that brought Turkey to the finals and he STEPPED on the out line!

When the video gets uploaded to YT I'll post it here.

Here it is, enjoy

It can clearly be seen that his leg is totally in "out", and the referee is next to him almost. Isn't it interesting

They should've told us that the match is sold, so we wouldn't have to sweat so much at least.

I couldn't believe it when I saw it either, I know.....

We are not that rich Milos ;) I don't have enough information about the rules to argue the refree mistakes but blaming refrees is the job of losers. It is always the same. We lost the final match finally. Oh yeah, we spent all of our money for buying Serbia match

^^ It would've been very different if the referees were judging as they should have. Maybe we would've lost then as well, who knows, but if I hate something than it is this kind of thing. It's not because we lost, we from lost Germany and Lithuania as well, and these were deserved defeats. We played bad on both matches, we didn't manage to psychically recover for the match with Lithuania, and it was expected. Nevertheless I am satisfied with 4th place, and it is a great result. If we lost like that here as well, nobody would give a f**k, but this is not YOUR fault, but FIBA's, and if they have any guts they should quit their jobs, as this is obvious cheating.

I am among the first ones who rarely puts the blame on referees in any sport, I didn't put the total blame on referees(but it was very clear that they totally messed us out) immediately, as we are partly gulity as well, but after I saw the match again, and this situation.... We all expected a domestic judging, but it is "over the hill" that so many mistakes are made, and if they did only ONE right thing out of a million the outcome would've been different.

I wouldn't like :rs: to win with the referees help either. When we beat someone, than it has to be based on quality, luck, whatever, I don't consider some of our matches as real victories either(mostly in football), because in those particular matches the referee messed the other opponent and it looked like we cheated, and I hate that.

To me, Turkoglu's whispering with the referees and that lame Asik's excuse is a very miserable way to bring a victory. But whatever, just had to say this.

Victory is always a victory but the WAY to victory varies a lot. We will see if this is a rightful ranking on the next european cup in Lithuania.

This world championship in Turkey was great. I was happy that new head-coach of our national team chose totally new basketball players who never played in national team before this year. Most of people in Lithuania thought that without some famous basketball players we are dead. And so young players proved that they can play basketball in high level. It's great! And new head-coach is totally different than previous one. At first, Kęstutis is a great psychologist. He knows how to motivate his team in psichological way, not only the game. To my mind, upcoming European basketball championship won't be so easy for us because all Lithuanians expect gold medals this year and off-load big psichological responsibility for the players. Anyway, I hope that our team will be in the list of four greatest and strongest teams in Europe. :)
