Now that FFTS is out (:'() I would prefer Baller over the medieval metal, the ballad, and the country with astronauts. :')

Slept on it one night and the disappointment remains with the decision not to let Cage and FFTS into the final. Especially with Cage, I don't understand it for the life of me - and I wasn't a Cage supporter last week. But she has power and just a great voice, that would have been pure jury fodder. Instead, you take Benjamin or TGL? For the life of me I can't understand it.

My candidates for next week would be Moss Kena, Cosby or Lyza.
Moss Kena definitely has jury potential, we'll have to see about the televoting, but so far there are only a few ballads? In any case, you can work on it until May.
Cosby sang well and the song has an ESC feel (more so than Lyza).
Lyza, even though something is missing, could be my thirs candidate. Could work, but I am not sure.

Unfortunately, after watching the video again, A & T shouldn't go to Basel. This won't get any points from the juries or the televoters.

I just really hope it won't be FS! Here we are bottom 5 again.

Conclusion: Raab brought interesting acts, but often those who had a great voice but the wrong song and acts who had great numbers but couldn't convince vocally.

By the way at the end of the show Raab hinted that he will be doing it next year again.
well he WANTS to do it next year. Since he said that the only reason doing it is to win, I would doubt a second edition of this at this point.

I know If we do poorly, and I think we will, then we will have another format again. *lol*

Personally I don't get the love for Baller to be honest. I wouldn't have even let it in the final. I don't think the song is good nor her voice impressive.

I think the televoters will most likely crash and burn it, too.

I do get the love for Abor & Tynna, at least if they picked anything else from their album. Then they'd me my pre-show faves too. But I also think it has FFF written all over it. The bubble seems to be more in love with the concept than the actual product itself. It reminds me a bit of Austria's Halo a few years back - fun to listen to as an audio but falls flat on its face live. Tynna's vocals were bad, the verses were bad, the staging was bad. I only liked the last 15 seconds or so when that other tune kicks in and Tynna is done singing and can dance a little...

Tbh Raab is quite out of touch when it comes to Eurovision. His comments on the performances were quite random sometimes. I mean still fair enough to bring him back and let him have another try after all those years without any success…

So you're telling me out of 3000 applications... barely anyone could sing or wasn't too inexperienced to flop because of nerves?

What the heck is this selection of finalists? I can't. This year really is cursed.

Yeah, it's more a 2019-kind-of NF rather than anything to really care about.

I don't think I will be voting next week or even watch it - what's the point?
Of course, I could be keeping my fingers crossed for Feuerschwanz since I'm a metalhead (on some days of the year) and I like that genre to be represented but "Knightclub" is a braindead song - the verses are simply utterly horrendous.

But what would be the alternative? Moss? - Maybe he would be getting some jury points in May but his song is uneventful and painfully dull/boring. He would finish Bottom 5 in televoting as well.
"Empress" got a great vocal performance but that song is even more painfully dull and boring.
Abor & Tynna are braindead as well. ...balallalalalalalala - fallalalalalala - es tut noch weh, wenn ich dich wiederseh' - no, thank you. She also sounds really flat and exhausted (or too young?) - I don't get such "German way of singing" at all. I can't even understand more than 2/3 of the chorus - I actually had to look up the lyrics.

@I bims Can you imagine they ditched EES and Tim Bendzko (and probably some other good and well-established acts) for that bunch of songs?

From Fall To Spring were my favourite (after the performances).. I can't believe they didn't let them pass Oo

I feel really empty after yesterday and don´t know whether I´ll watch the final next Saturday. :(

Now i´ts more or less clear that FS will win and go to Basel. I´m very sorry but this grown up kinder carneval will end like LOTL, only with even less televotes. The other songs aren´t any better though, Moss has a great stage presence but his song is also rather dull, still don´t get the fuss about Lyza and why Benjamin has reached the final is still a huge mystery to me. xthink

At ESC kompakt most users are disappointed as well, with the exceptions of a few habitual "Klatschaffen" who even gloss over this shitshow.

Germany, if they play their cards right, can aim for the Top 10 or at least the Top 15. I've seen an increase. Finally. Spain has been moving for a while now with the Benidorm Fest, Germany is starting to get serious, France is a bit more ahead with some good internal choices. Only the UK is missing.

Oh hell, whhhyyyyy? Are we not punished enough with everything going on in this World? Why do we have to endure Raabs arrogance and negative value "knowledge" about Eurovision anyway, and than maybe for another year?

That alone makes me wish we'll come bottom 5 again, so Raab feels embarassed and hopefully GOES. AWAY. (But I don't wish it on our artists, many of them seem lovely)

After listening to some of the songs again: I'm still pissed. The jury was simply awful.

What annoys me the most is Stefans "speech" about needing to take into Account how the audience will vote: with no regard for what works at Eurovision. So he Kicks out FFTS and Cage and keeps Feuerschwanz?!?! Utterly stupid.

Acts like Benjamin and Leonora 100% made it because Raab thinks they are no competition to the acts he actually considers good. But than he either really thinks "Knightclub" is our best option, or he things FFTS or Cage were a bigger danger to A&T than Feuerschwanz, which... lol.

At this point, I honestly do not care - I'm probably not even gonna vote in the final, unless A&T step up the performance a little. Overall, the only good thing that can still come out of this is a song in german.

(And I hope if FFTS want to try again, they do not do it in Germany. Go to San Marino or something. In *this* Field, they absolutely deserved the final several times over)

For Fuck The Sake... why is FFTS out? IOTAP

1-Feuerschwanz "Knightclub"
2-The Great Leslie "These Days"
3-From Fall to Spring "Take the Pain Away"
4-Cosby "I'm Still Here"
5-Abor & Tynna "Baller"

Rock on, Germany xmetal

My gut feeling says the medieval song would do much better than Lord of the Lost. Much better styling than Lord of the Lost's off-putting red latex suit, plus I think people underestimate how much casual viewers will enjoy hearing German language metal lol. The song is nowhere near as strong as Electric Callboy's rejected song, but still okay as far as novelty acts go

I was not really impressed by the vocals in Empress: for me, this song would have work way better with someone having a more "distinctive" voice / way of singing because the song rely on the atmosphere it creates. I'm not sure to be clear: I'm not saying that she's a bad singer but her voice lacks a distinctive personality, which could bring the song to another level.

our best international option has been kicked out by stefan and his buddys.

Song-wise I'd agree. But her live vocals were incredibly shaky and probably the worst of all yesterday, so she kinda kicked out herself. But I think that was the story of last evening anyway. The least stable singers got the best songs and vice-versa, it's a bit of a dilemma.
And then there was FFTS whom I consider the best package, and they didn't even make it to the final. xgaah

Yes, Cloudy simply did not deliver, so there is at least an understandable reason why she's out. Although given this field, I'd rather have taken her and used the heavy backing tracks Eurovision allows by now than sending something super boring again.

Or maybe we should have Cage or Julika sing "If Jesus saw what we did last night" 🤔
