I really dont understand why the Russian political problems always stir up so much emotions here, while the problems of, let us say, Germany or France or Latvia or Sweden never come up as frequently as those of Russia. Please, I'd really love to understand this. So, please, I am asking you all, illuminate me, cuz I'd really love to know why.

Cuz, as you know, if we talk politics, why dont we talk also about our politicians in EU who do a lot of damage with their policies not only to us, but to the whole world? But please, be polite, I dont want screams and offenses again. I want to hear arguments.

It shouldn't be such a big surprise though - Most of us were born and raised in countries where things like freedom, equality and democracy are more or less normal. I can only speak for myself but I'm just very disgusted by the Russian politics simply because they are against everything I believe in (and I'm not even part of e.g. the LGBT-community or anyone else discriminated by Putin's agenda so I can only imagine how they must feel). When I hear people saying things like "Everything is ok in Russia - look who's talking" I'm just getting very upset because I think that there is nothing worse than shutting your eyes and pretending that everything is alright when in reality people are suffering.

I wonder this too. I am no fan of Russian's politics, but Germany is currently ruining europe and I hear no booing or crying every year. I guess western europe is the vocal majority

Sure, because wanting to help people in need (even if it isn't handled ideal) is as bad as a government that oppresses everyone who does not share its sick ideology - really nice contribution dude...
Btw I'm totally against the stupid booing - People should hate the politicians not the artists or the other unfortunate souls who have to live under those retards ;)
But I guess that all discussions are pointless anyway - moral isn't universal anymore.

Give me examples of Putin's discriminating agenda. Without these your statement sounds just a generalization without basis. Please. If you do it, then I will do my homework, trying to show you my perspective - not Putin's. Deal?

Well my hopes, that with new page political topic will be shut off, have died.

You know what, no, your wishes wont come true. Cuz the other day I said the same thing, but someone else gave me lecture about how ESC is a political event. So, I am adamant now and I will not give in until I don't hear convincing arguments from all those how the Russian political machine is any different for better or worse than any other political machinery in Europe or around the globe. So, please, start shooting.

Seriously? I actually wanted to stop/avoid this discussion but ok ... Here are few examples of what makes the Russian politics (for me) disgusting and immoral:
- the restriction of press freedom (approx. 90% of the Russian Media are directed and controlled by the Kremlin and the more or less independent journalists who dare to write something that contradicts Putins politics get arrested or they unfortunately "die in an accident")
- the discrimination of Homo-/Bi-/Trans-sexuals that is fixed by law (People openly showing their "abnormal" sexuality get arrested or worse + it's forbidden to talk about/to teach sexual diversity in schools)
- the oppression of everyone who levels criticism against the Kremlin (e.g. Pussy Riot or the politic opposition)
- the discrimination of ethnic minorities and people with disabilities
- the connivance of child and compulsory labor under inhuman conditions (e.g. during the construction works for the Olympic Games 2014)
- forced land alienation and displacement of people (e.g. during the construction works for the Olympic Games 2014)
- the illegal annexation of foreign territory (e.g. Crimea)

I could go on for ever .... Those things may be ok for some people but not for someone who was born and raised in a democracy.
Let's finally put and end to this - We will probably not agree on something anyway.

Please refer to Section 11 of our Board Rules. No political discussions in this area, we have a dedicated area for that. I understand that at times, some statements, when it's relevant to the song, are unavoidable but this is clearly off-topic right now.

In case Russia wins, where would you like to go?
Sochi, Moscow, St Petersburg or another town?

Can we just put all of the political talk aside in this topic and just all agree that Russian ESC entries as of late (including this) suck regardless of what one's political stances are?

Hmm I'm not sure if Sochi has big indoor arena  I think that it could be held at Olympic Stadium in Moscow (ESC 2009 venue) or maybe Saint-Petersburg Sports and Concert Complex (both seem to be big enough for ESC)

I want that ESC next year will be held in the newly Zenit Arena which will be completed and inaugurated this year and its capacity will be for 66.000 people, could be the biggest ESC ever! :D :cool:
