Goddammit I'm too late for the discussion

Woah, calm your tits.

If anybody withdrawed, it'd be anyone but Azerbaijan. It is actually more probable for one of the big five, as some of them have good reasons to be pissed by the results :?

Though I'd actually loooove seeing an Azeri withdrawal, and an Israeli one could bring us some fresh participants like Lebanon or Morocco :D

Russian commentators were very positive towards Conchita and actually I like them, because it was obvious that they were celebrating Eurovision without prejudices. They were cheering for every song, and even for the Georgian one in the semi for example. We know that Russia and Georgia are not in good relationships outside Eurovision, but it's different case in the "Eurovision bubble". Conchita was 3rd in their televote and currently is number 1 in Itunes Russia. Believe me, Russian people clearly understand what Conchita is and that the beard is part of the stage art and performance. This Eurovision song contest just proves what I've been thinking before. In Europe we should stop listening to our politicians, because we are more alike to each other than many people think. I'm sure that Russia will continue to participate and even more with Channel One being in charge next year. Maybe you don't know, but it's 49% private property of Western media consortium. Russians are more open-minded than you think ;)

I'm pretty sure there would be withdrawals next year... but who?!

Poland would me mad to withdraw... they had a good result this year, it would help to build on it next year... take the Netherlands - numerous failures, then a 9th place, followed by a second place and sending two big stays consecutively. Hopefully the Polish result would encourage some of the better artists to take part!

Russia - I can never see them withdrawing (is Eurovision too big of an event in Russia though? I'm asking because they often opt for internal selections... they would surely be a country to stage a huge Melodi-festivalen type of selection)
Azerbaijan - same. This year's result is surely an ice-cold shower and they will surely be back on track, and Turkey will come back (they must be feeling sorry their brothers failed, so to quote Bob Marley 'to the rescue... here I ammmmmmmm'!

I can see all traditional countries taking part, even Israel.

As for comebacks:

Slovakia/Czech Republic - contest staged in Austria could mean they'd be back, along with the missing ex-Yugo countries.

If they leave they obviously can't handle that the majority of Europe wanted a song to win.
France leaving sounds a bit strange but they send pretty crappy songs and if they skip semi-finals their songs won't get as much publicity xshrug

But Azerbaijan and Russia leaving? Russia leaving would not be their style, they want to be the strong ones, if they leave they will send a message that Conchita has won over them and I don't think they want to do that. I've also heard that in Azerbaijan that the days during Eurovision is a holiday? Confirm please. They built a whole new arena for Eurovision and spent so much money, if they leave now it will be kind of wasted.

France has terrible ratings, just over a million people watched it this year, down from last year.

I think a big reason for this was that the final of The Voice was at the same evening. Both shows have similar "target audience", and The Voice is very popular in France. So a lot of "potential ESC viewers" probably rather watched The Voice.

In Poland Eurovision won with The Voice and X-Factor and both shows are very popular. I hope we'll have France next year, I enjoyed their song!

Oh, how I love the annual withdrawal threads. I heard Austria wants to go out on a high note and will not take part next year either.

Let's keep it going y'all.

I think Russia and Azerbaijan won't withdraw, as they always take part in the semifinals and have always qualified, France won't withdraw either, neither will Portugal. The potential withdrawing countries may be Israel, Macedonia and Greece, but San Marino's qualification proved that for the microstates, being in the Final is possible. So maybe Monaco, Liechtenstein even Luxembourg may take part in the edition 2015. We may see Cyprus, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Bulgaria returning. Turkey has 50% of possibility but I can't really see Kazakhstan joining and Slovakia returning, much less Czech Republic. Maybe we'll see 38-40 countries for the next edition.

With the current voting system which gives political motivated juries the power to sabotage for certain countries like they did with Poland, they have all the excuses to withdraw.

Especially BBC and RTE should be given warnings for having juries that purposely tried to hinder votes for a country.

I don't think that the juries did it cause it's Poland...it's about the song

If Sweden would have sent that song, it wouldn't be put last by the juries. There's no way it was the worst of all songs, the juries of those countries knew it would be popular with their voters (partly due to help of Polish diaspora) and there's a current political landscape in both those countries where Poles are being targeted.

I think with putting the song blatantly last in both the final and semi, the juries of atleast some countries showed their true political motives.

Yeah but isn't that why we bring juries back ? To have songs without too much quality and being about the performances like France 2010 and Poland 2014 loosing votes in favors of songs like Spain 2012 and 2014 or Hungary 2014.

What both France and Poland should get from this is that they can both pass easily the 150 points with televoting and should focus on the songs that will do it with good writing and music.

Anyway i m betting that France is closer to withdrawal than ever. This time, the media and social networks reactions are hopeless and France 3 is the only one responsible
