Make it a rule, that all entries must be sung in the language of the host nation!

I see Ireland/Great Britain doing very well in Eurovision 2014 and onwards... :D

Sorry, but I disagree with some things.
1 - Jury votes has been saved :il: , :at: & :sm: in semis, but the televoters doesn't care about these 3 songs. In the final, they put :md: & in top 5, but the televoters doesn't do it. I know that :me: deserved a final too, but what they did in the stage was awful.
2 - I don't know about the language rule. I see good songs in native language without this rule, but with this rule, I doesn't like 95% of the songs.
3 - Bring the orchestra back is a bad idea. The number of ballads will be bigger that the other years.

I suggest that the substep should be obligatory from now.
Ah, and the natives from each country should choose a good song to ESC, not a cool one (if you country have a NF, ofc).

I don't think :at: deserved a final with that generic American song, :sm: perhaps.... yes :il: deserved a final spot for sure, but it's not as if juries "saved" it though... they still put more generic cheese ballads way better than the Israeli one (which was still in their bottom)...

The televoters pretty much agreed with the juries on  so I don't get your point?

On the other hand juries saved generic stuff like :ge: :am:, when the televoters preferred more genuine and "cool" stuff in native language :bg: :hu: :me: xshrug

This fuss about announcing winner before all countries have voted was very strange, but we in Sweden had an own broadcast backstage directly after the contest ended and in that program, Björkman told us that the bridge which was used in the opening act and Winners walk stopped working three hours before the contest, that´s why Denmark was crownd winners with still five countries remaining to vote, they wanted to have time to do the winners walk if the bridge troubled. But because all this wasn´t told to Europe by neither SVT or EBU, I sure understand the reactions from all fans.

That will not be the case next year I hope :p

I just thought of another to go with the lot on the last page:
- The song must originate from that country specifically; so countries do not import songs from other countries.

- Random draw ! (The most important)
- One vote per one country, not one vote per phone.

The random draw is the most important for me, the artists themselves should determine their place (and destiny) in the competition - not the producers

Other than that, abolish the ranking system and go back to the 2009-2012 model

- random draw
- one vote from one telphone for a country and no more than 5 countries able to recieve a vote from a telephone
- televoting gratis or at least a normal SMS cost, not 2 or 3 euro for one call
- results from televoting and jury votes to appear public in the 2nd day of the final from every country
- only top 15 from televoting and top 15 from the jury to be calculated in final results the countries give. In that way, both winners televoting and winners jury will recieve some points from that country, the system will be more fair and will be more hard for juries to make dirty games
- no big 5 there, but top 5 from previous year to qualify directlly in the final

This will be the perfect Eurovision for me... I know that never will happen.

This may be not a big deal but I think EBU should make a rule about flag sizes that people bring to buildings.

Just one example; this is not possible not to see that 'huge' Russian flag : Ivi Adamou - La La Love - Live - 2012 Eurovision Song Contest Semi Final 1 - YouTube < and this breaks to focus on song. Smaller flags are better.
Also the first semi final of Eurovision Song Contest 2013... Is that necessary I talk about Turkish flags?

EBU should hire Christer Björkman for a period of say 10 years to set the song running order in Eurovision. That way he can work in the proper scheme into the show and slowly MFized the entire process. Additionally he should have the exclusive right to change any ESC rule he sees fit.

My sister came up with an interesting idea yesterday... She suggested to draw 5 countries (+ host of course) which are directly qualified for the final instead of the Big 5. Would be very funny if e.g. San Marino was directly in the final and France doesn't qualify for it

Relieved

Can't believe the Norskarna have anything they didn't see in Sweden first. Besides trolls have nothing todo with this, just the fact that Christer Björkman is so respected and admired among ESC fans is evidence enough. I'm sure EBU will acknowledge these circumstances and Ola Sand will be satisfied that the matters are in good hands. Just consider how much time and money they could save on cancelled meetings. xcheers

That would actually be interesting!

Most important:
1 - At least 10 people in every jury (preferably 12). They should represent a certain variety in age and background; but still with connections to the music industry (But for Gods sake keep the 50/50 system).

2 - Both the split results of each country and the names and the background of all the jury-members should be made public within a week after the final.

Both of these changes should be easy to applicate to the competition.

Of more personal interest to me are some details concerning the logistics in the chosen arena. Please, I am getting too old to be standing for a full 4 hours - I need to sit down during the show!! And I wanna be able to go out and bring a drink (alcoholic or not) with be back into the arena and enjoy it while I continue watching the show...
