I have crazy idea. Maybe Eurovision fans should be in national juries ?

you know, i had something similar on my mind. last years the JESC had "the kids jury", and maybe we could have "the fans jury" on ESC

- Voters still rank songs 1-26 like they did this year, but the juries only get to rank their top 10 1-10 like before 2013. Every other song gets a ranking of 11 from the jury. This will mean that the juries still get some power to give an advantage to songs that both they and the public like or give some points to a song that would otherwise have just missed out but they will not be able to save a song that the public hates and they will not be able to totally destroy a song the public loves.

- Actual split jury/televote results are released after the contest. Preferably by country but at least as much as was released in 2012 and before.

- Running order should be drawn randomly.

- If they really feel the need to announce the winner before all results are in, I don't mind that but just leave it at "With X results still to come, we now know that the winner is Y" then go to the next result.

I agree with changing the rule about the number of votes per phone number, but I think it should be done like " Only one vote for a country from one phone number", so that people can vote for two or three countries from the same phone number :)

This rule with the number of votes will NOT be a reality.
Less votes means less money.
And Ebu has become "all about money".

I agree about putting back a greater random element to the draw. I'd be happy, though, if they just extended the current system to a draw for quarters rather than halves.

I also agree about full transparency in the results and returning to the points-based system of combining jury and televote.

My suggestion for the juries is a little different, but very simple. As far as I'm aware, the jurors are currently just required to turn up at their meeting place on the day of the jury performance and watch the show for the first time. That's not good enough. They're supposed to be offering special insight, but their exposure to the music is pretty much the same as any other member of the public.

The jurors should be given a copy of the songs on CD/MP3 and a DVD of the preview videos two or three weeks before the contest and encouraged to get to know the entries. This way, they can properly analyse the song structure, lyrics and melodic composition in a way that is impossible in one listen. In doing so, they would offer something that the televote cannot. It would also lessen the disproportionate impact a big vocal seems to have on their scoring.

I like your idea.

I also think the juries should have some basic knowledge and insight atleast in the countries' different music scenes. This is a way for them to getting to know the music of the countries and to actually understand whether or not the entries are representative in any shape or form. In my opinion an entry SHOULD represent its country (I mean that's the very concept of this contest), it can be made in different ways of course, but a total unattached entry seems pointless. It doesn't have to be ethnic music, but atleast something that resemblance the actual music scene of the country (it can still be pop, dance, rock, jazz etc.).

It's not too hard to do, they could get like CD's/DVD's showcasing the biggest local hits of the past years or so in the countries, and some examples of popular acts and some examples of traditional music aswell as acts and songs that has been influential overall in the countries.

I mean if they are supposed to be "experts", one should be able to ask more of them than just showing up and judging vocals like it should be just another American Idol audition. This is a European Song Contest, not a karaoke singing talent show!

This makes so much sense!

-All entries should be "homegrown" products indeed.

-People should be able to vote how many times they want, however, the only vote that counts is the last one, or the last three.

-Juries should be bigger and be more diverse in terms of background.

-EBU should completely investigate any cheating suspicions, and cheating coutnries should be banned by 5 or more years, depending on the dimension of said cheating.

-The reprise should indeed be shown in it's full extent. Maybe, when they show the end credits one one side of the scoreboard, in the other side they could do a recap with the results. For example show the Irish song and say 26th-Ireland below, then the Spanish song and say 25th-Spain etc, like in normal recaps.

  • Every song in National or regional Languages will get a 15 % discount on the admission fee to the contest for any broadcasterThe televote should be free. No more than 3 votes by phone. (Get a huge sponsor to pay for the televote).
  • The juries should be 5 proffesional and 5 random people. Each should have a computer or something like that to vote after every song directly collected by EBU.
  • Jurors should't talk to each others during the show.
  • Each juror should award 1 to 10 points to every song between the postcards during the jury rehearsals.
  • No countries name would be displayed, just song number 1, 2, 3 etc.
  • The EBU should add every votes from the jurros on their computer and calculate the jury scores.

also give the juries a cd the English version of the songs, so those "local language hatng jurors" might appreciate those songs in some way. studio versions of the songs must be part of the criteria of judging.

the biggest part of the song should be in the language of the country.

Oh, I almost forgot. Juries should vote at live SF/final, not on dress rehearsals.

Well mine have pretty much been said already but i would like to see:

- 50/50 jury televote. I do not trust a full televote.
- Random draw for the semi's and finals. The system this year was terrible and i do not trust countries to not place countries without favouring themselves. I'm sure many countries this year will complain about that, like Spain, France, Slovenia, Bulgaria, Lithuania, Finland, UK, Austria, Germany and others will be some that will complain i'm sure.
- Stop composer entering songs in multiple countries.
- Limit vote to one per phone to help prevent people influence by other countries from voting in large numbers for their country.
- Increase Jury size and make them more diverse.
- Lat one, making the semi's qualifying procedure more exciting. Why not do the voting system they use in the final?

As people won't vote for something they know that can't win or the juries will vote down rivals tactically

Ummmmmm

1. Running order decided by a draw.
2. Voting starts right away, then more people will be interested in voting, like someone who's not into Eurovision but watching it Saturday evening just to kill some time, he'll more likely grab a phone and vote when the song that impressed him is being performed than during only 15 mins in the end when he already forgot what he liked or simply turns his tv off and goes to bed cause not interested in results.
3. Turkey and Bosnia, come back!
4. Anke and Stefan Raab as annual mandatory hosts + Petra in a green room for any country that is hosting :D
5. Keep that tradition with flags parade in the beginning of the Grand Final, it is awesome.
6. Once the entry is chosen no language or style change allowed, only slight polishing (hi Belarus 2012).
7. Of course, get back to a 1 to 12 points sytem, no 1-26 ranking.

That's it for me.
