AshleyWright I just tuned into Radio 2 and they're playing your hot WorldVision winning hit, "Heaven Is A Place On Earth" by Belinda Carlisle. It must be a sign that we're about to win Eurovision.

Re: UNITED KINGDOM 2018

So the song by Goldstone "I feel the love" just got revealed.
Its very BANG BANG INTO THE ROOM - ish, but less powerful, less authentic and yeah, just very average. Its not a good song to be honest at all. I dont see a good performance coming from this.

Goldstone - I Feel The Love Was giving me Fifth Harmony vibes until the chorus. Man the chorus ruins it. I did admittedly fear this when I read the song title. Will need to listen to this again to form a proper opinion. It's not bad but could have been better. I was hoping it would avoid going into Eurovision cliche territory. Parts of it are good though.

'I Feel The Love' is great! Gives me Little Mix vibes. Would love to see us send a girlband once again

LEGENDS IS GREEAAAT! Wow, love it, so different. Definitely modern, moody, somehow that "bitchy" vibe that I loooove. Definitely great. It reminds me a bit of "Cool me down", am I the only one hearing it?

Re: UNITED KINGDOM 2018

Asanda - Legends This is the first song i've heard from the BBC in years that feels like "we're taking things seriously". I don't necessarily even like it but it feels competitive and something that could stand on it's own legs outside of Eurovision. I think this has the potential to do well. I don't think this is for my own personal taste (if we go urban pop then i'd prefer the type of music someone like Jorja Smith is putting out for instance) but I think i'd be quite content with this as our entry, providing there's not anything much better in the NF, and it works well live.

Re: UNITED KINGDOM 2018

Raya - Crazy Like "Legends" this feels like another one where they are actually trying. The production is good and it feels current. Comes close to being banal though for me. At first I thought i'd like it more than "Legends" but it never really goes anywhere. I like the verses more than the chorus. I can see a lot of people enjoying this one.

In fact, this NF I think has been giving us what we've been asking for now for years and years. Two and a half of the three songs revealed so far and none of them sound Eurovision besides the lil bit cheesy chorus of "I Feel The Love". Nothing for my taste though so far. I'm looking in SuRie's direction now. Please providexpray

Re: UNITED KINGDOM 2018

From the four I've heard so far:

I Feel The Love kind of just annoys me. I usually like cheesy entries, but this is cheesy in a bad way, and it's not really my sort of genre anyway. I can get how others might find something in it, but personally it just feels very ehhhhhh.

Crazy is an entirely functional slice of pop that would probably grow on me and wouldn't embarrass the UK, but it doesn't really stand out. Might be a decent "default" entry if nothing else really pans out well.

Legends has a brilliantly put-together first minute: it's catchy, it's well-produced and it absolutely stands out. The second minute pretty much just repeats it note-for-note, instrument-for-instrument, which makes it fall a lot in my books. The last minute's nothing too special either. Still, there's a lot of potential, and I can see this netting the UK a safe top 10 spot if it's taken in the right direction (though being the UK, that's a big "if").

Astronaut could either become a guilty pleasure or an annoyance for me, and I'm not sure which at this point. Probably more the latter; there's some stuff to enjoy there, but it does feel rather generic, plodding and "written for Eurovision"-ish. The verses are my sort of acoustic pop-ballad, but the choruses don't do quite as much... this could still go either way, though.

So far this feels like a better lineup than in previous years, though of course we've still got two songs to hear, so perhaps I should reserve judgement in case they're both stinkers and one of them threatens to win.

Liam Tamne - Aatronaut Nowhere near as bad as I feared this one could have been. I pretty much share the same opinions with ZoboCamel here. There are little elements in the production to enjoy but the song is generic and not very exciting.

Jaz Ellington - You This is nice. I've wanted us to send a soul song to Eurovision for a long time now, but i'm unsure really if this would be the correct one. It's gets on the high end of schmaltzy and the production is a bit much in my opinion, but there's something about it I find charming. I can hear Beverley Knight singing this. I like it but I struggle to see it finding a good position at Eurovision.

I've got this feeling they're saving the best until last (and if that's not the case, at least "Legends" is there).
