Why does Melovin refuse to speak in Ukranian?

He didn't refuse to do anything, don't listen to stupid fanatics.

Melovin is from Odessa and they never spoke Ukrainian so nothing surprises me here.

Re: UKRAINE 2018

Well, so the one refusing to speak Ukrainian on stage has won ?
Actually he didn't refuse anything.

He refused to promise the victory but in a few moments he couldn't resist
He listened to questions in Ukrainian and answered in Russian. A lot of us do the same.

Since what time language of congratulations started to matter? His mother tougne is Russian as for half of the country, if he feels fine to speak Russian then shut the fck up and cope with it, you can't force someone to speak during such an emotional moment other language, otherwise go and listen to Prikhodko's flop convos.

As for the song, Its nice was my 2nd favourite after Tayanna, she would have been a better choice tbh. Thanks god its not Vilna or Kadnay, I am satisifed

Re: UKRAINE 2018

I think this is the first Ukrainian entry I really cant stand. With this Lady Gaga way of piano playing, not able to distinctly pronounce English words. He sings like he has a dry potato in his mouth.
Only speaking Russian (just like Erised). Not even ONE word in Ukrainian, which for me is very disrespectful.
This stupid fake eye and dorky haircut.
This is a fat zero from me.

Well, at least we can all agree he will bring the best result for Ukraine when it comes to male representatives from Ukraine so far. :D #Verkaexcluded

I absolutely loved Lelya and feel it was robbed, but then if it won I would have also felt that Under the Ladder was robbed. For now I think whoever is in charge of finances at Ukraine's public broadcaster should be very, very afraid.

Some of us have to suffer. This year I wish you only patience and maybe in 2019 we will have winner that all of us would enjoy.

If his mother language is Russian, if he comes from a Russian speaking area, if Ukraine recognizes both languages (and in reality most people there are actually bilingual), what's the problem? Since he won the televote, it seems the language he uses is not an issue at all. Just for Euro fans who need some drama it seems?!

He seems like he's got a chip on his shoulder. I'm worried he might refuse help from the channel/other pros to revamp/stage his entry.

Re: UKRAINE 2018

My family is from Ukraine.. Even if he speaks Russian, he could add at least some words in Ukrainian. Nothing, not even a thank you. This shows the attitude.

What attitude? Like really what kind of attitude it shows????????????????????????? Danilko spoke Russian and what he also shows his attitude? I Just can't stand this illogical nationalism.
Its song contest not a political arena

that's true. Its just hillarious how SOME ukranians complain about their entry, when on regular basis half of Mass Media, half of celebrities and half of the nation or tho even more than a half speaks russian and recognizes russian as its mother tougne. Its an insane reason to hate artist. not even artist, to hate SOMEONE.

I don't know xshrug Why some certain people like you and yulichka create drama from nothing? I guess you are just pissed off about winner and look for a additional reason to hate him. Let's talk about attitude when he speaks something politically incorrect or offensive towards Ukraine.

NOOOOOO UKRAINE SELECTED MELOVIN A LEGACY IS BROKEN MY LIFE IS FINISHED GOODBYE CRUEL WORLDDDDD

(aaaaaaaactually i like melovin's song quite a lot this time around lol oops. also he performs it well and the staging is superb. he will do very well and i will root for him. it's just that ukraine is just soooo much better than everyone else that melovin, who this year is an incredible performer, was my #5 in this final, over only laud. the other four would basically own my heart until elina hopefully wins eesti laul. it's sad for me to have ukraine not near the top of my ranking. total first world problems, i know.)
