So she should stay in the semi even if her entry would turn out to be one of the best in the selection? xshrug

What you refer to as "attentionwhoring", I simply see as promo and marketing and a way of getting your name out there. We're in 2018 now, the world is spinning faster and faster, it's globalized and digitized to the extent that you can be a name today and gone from everyone's attention just as fast tomorrow. She is still considered a fresh name in Ukraine and when you're in a business like this, it's part of the job to be seen, and you have to take into consideration that she's parallely making promo for her EP aswell as trying to draw attention to the fact that she will compete in the selection for Eurovision, it's a busy season for her.

I'll wait and see what the entry will sound like, it's not a personality contest afterall (and the fact that she's not lazy shouldn't be labeled as "whoring" rather she's doing her best to have a career), as long as she's got the material to back it up with I'd say do that promo guuurl!

Didnt even know that :ua: had a semifinal. Havent followed :ua: in the Past. I meant the ESC-Semis (since shes apparently easyli going to win). And yes, its really disgusting how she promoted her Album with 4 "Fake-Entrys" and thats why I wish her A NQ.

Aha you meant the ESC semis, well I'm here for the music, it's not a Congeniality Contest... if she'll be the best in the selection i'll root for her... but I don't think she'll be (Kvitka would have probably been though) and I don't think she'll win either... but we'll see... xshrug

I'm not sure if her team honestly knew these songs weren't eligible, I mean from what I understand they were all officially released after Sept 1st but just performed at some event prior? xshrug ... also I find your comment slightly funny considering you also said the below about Alekseev in the Belorussian thread:

Alekseev is the only one who has a bit chances t qualify, so let them all withdraw.

^ So I guess breaking the rules and playing a fair game depends on the artist right?, because in the case of Belarus it's crystal clear that the entry isn't eligible and it's all set up... in the case of Tayanna she is changing her entry according to the rules, but promoting yourself as an artist is something bad apparently...?

Well, in the Case of Tayanna it was a calculated Promo-Move which made me lose Sympathys. I would usually never have paid attention to her 4 Songs on a natural Way.
In the Case of Alekseev it was unintentionally. But Belarus is such a corrupt Country, there I dont care about Rules tbh. I just said that Alekseev has more chances to qualify than those 7 who wanted to retreat together and if he wins he apparently will change his entry. So from a belarussian Perspective it would be better to let Alekseev participate. But my Fav is Shuma anyway.

Well, I dunno, I don't think it's odd if an artist (especially a fresh name trying to establish herself) takes opportunities to promote herself... if they knew the songs broke the eligible rule or not I guess we can just speculate on... but considering the EP was released in like November and only one single was publically released before the EP release, I'd give them the benefit of the doubt and say they didn't know it wasn't eligible until some other sources looked into it hence why they now change the entry to a complete new song...

Nothing is "unintentional" with Alekseev, they already bought the victory which is why the broadcaster is completely ignoring the rules-breaking when it comes to him. Anyways how can you be so sure about him being a good option since the entry won't be known until later? xshrug... anyways that's another selection... I just used it as a comparison because an artist promoting herself isn't half as bad as someone blatantly corrupting a selection... but that's just my opinion.

Atleast we agree on Shuma :)

Illaria's song will feature a lot of ethno instruments: zither, kobza, drymba (Jew's harp), hurdy-gurdy (wheel lira), bagpipes, ektar, didjeridoo

Sounds promising! I hope Illaria comes to slay! I know she has it in her!

I wouldn't be surprised if she'll end up being the strongest out of the bunch this time around, but the fact that she isn't a very known name nor has a powerful ($$$) team behind her will probably hinder her from winning (even if she'll end up being the best) :(

Re: UKRAINE 2018

Serhiy Babkin premiered the full version of his song (4:45s long):

Itunes: https://goo.gl/SZ7jjv
Google Play: https://goo.gl/SzvJ2F

It's like a ballad from SunSay. Very unusual song for him. The live version will be less boring and more awesome because he's "acoustic" kind of singer. But I don't think this song should win the NF.
I like the strings, I like the effects, I hate such slow tempo so I can't wait to see the live version & how he will change it in the vocals department.

I hope she won't suck harder than last time xwhistle

2017 was a mistep for her, I think we can both agree that Illaria is sooo much better and sooo much more than her 2017 entry... cross my fingers that she'll be her true self this time around.

WHAT. A. TRASH.

My hype for Babkin is dead. Unless he's genius and shocks us all with acoustic perfromance.
