Why are you a member on a Eurovision fan forum then?

I understand you didn't mention yourself behaving in the same way but you seem quite negative...

And he is continiously missing the fact that Eurovision was never a state-funded project with the exception of their hosting in 2005. Every year their singers and producers are covering the expenses and that fact is conveniently missed in NTU's motives and it's not commented at all by the "supporters" of that ridiculously taken decision with even more ridiculous arguments which simply don't belong to a normal understanding for logic. And yulichka avoid talking on the behalf of people. There is no such thing as "people think this way". In every society for everything there are people liking or hating something. And that doesn't mean that we have to consider the position of the haters as true and ultimately valid ground to take decisions for NOT doing something. If so, there won't be anything existing in our societies as everything made by humans is controversial - some are liking, others not. If some people in Ukraine don't like Eurovision, others don't like action movies or sports, or opera, politics programmes, driving a car, listening to a music, shopping and so on. Let's abandon them all if we consider your logic as worthy and then we will have a black hole on the Earth where is nothing happening just to please all people which don't like something.

Shame, but they do have other more important things to take care of.

I am not talking on behalf of people, I am transferring their commentaries. If people think this way, than there is such a thing like "people think this way". Even after the news of Ukraine refusing participation, no one really was against it. Majority did approve the decision within the context of todays war state in the country. You can write a whole philosophical research paper on globalization and individuality. But right now there is an external threat to the case of Eurovision - war and lack of money. It is like you are exposed only to the case of liking and not liking, but not to the real reason - war and no money. I have explained you the latter and strengthened my explanations with the reality that the show is not that popular in my country (statistics).

Because I love Eurovision but I am in favor of refusing in this year's participation due to current situation. Yes, I have chosen my priorities. I will not whine if we miss one year, it is not a big deal for me personally. So it is for my family or friends, they also don't care that much. You see, if many die very day, no one is interested much in big TV shows like Eurovision. You (not personally you, I mean everyone) can see my way of thinking is illogic, I am not pretending anyone to understand me. The majority can be all on your side, let's go for fun and sports and TV shows. I voice my opinion that what is happening in my country hurts me personally very much and by analyzing how it was presented in mass media, analyzing comments - no one really cares. There may have been sad people who sad - Oh, too bad. But no one is screaming - Give me my show back.

Again, you can all prove me wrong, say I cannot generalize, people need TV shows and other things to watch. Sure they can, but whole country refusing demonstrates that the whole country is pretty much in big pain.

Well, we are happy if there is Eurovision 2015 at all. There could be war overnight anytime across Europe.

There could also be a asteroid heading towards extinguishing all human life. Now both of us are really negative.

Now I am really curious to see the viewing figures in Ukraine cause in the end that is what should be looked at when discussing popularity. I am okay with either decision. I can understand a withdrawal for the obvious reasons but having something to look forward to may not be a bad thing and as someone pointed out - it is true that in Ukraine the acts (or the team) will cover all fees and expenses.
There is another important factor playing into this and that is perception. Taking part in a contest could "send" a wrong message and people could be against a participation out of principal. When you are in a really sad and desperate situation, any kind of cheerfulness may be considered inappropriate regardless of the intent. It's a fine line that people are walking and I support either decision. What's important to know is that Ukraine is not pulling a Turkey and they'll be back soon enough.

Well, anyway, Ukraine withdraws in many events. For instance, we had to take over the hosting of next European Championships of basket ball because Ukraine have been withdrawn of the hosting.

He was arrested in Russia over the weekend for his participation in the Peace March there.

Oh dear, guess he won't be doing that for Ukraine then.

Maybe it's a misunderstanding - it could be Navalny who is Russian politician from the opposition, not Nagorny.

Ukraine got us used to watch clearly beautiful ladies. Don't make same mistake 2nd time and don't send Gaitana-likes into Eurovision thing.
