A shame indeed. I'm wondering why they suddenly despise everything about Eurovision when they were formerly quite enthusiastic.

Because they want us to focus on the Middle East. Because we're turning our back to the West. So we don't take part. How nice! :?

I don't know why, but I have a feeling that Turkey is gonna do the same as Italy between 1997 and 2011... hope it's not that long, though...

This coincides with their confirmation in debuting to Asia's version of eurovision "ABU TV Song Festival".

omg we totally fit in with the other contestant countries xdxdxdxd

Me, an 18 yr-old college freshman, would make a better job. And they will send Manga again, it was only funny once. This country starts to be boring as hell.

Technically they are in Asia. But yes it is ridiculous, considering Turkey is a lot closer politically/economically/socially to Europe and the west in general. When I saw it was Manga I was thinking "are they running out of talent or something? :?" I don't particularly like the song either. I don't see the point really of ATSF because there's no voting of a sort and just a music programme. xshrug

Turkey is turning away from Europe and the European Song Contest... What happened?

Personally I'm delighted because we'll be in the same contest with Japan. And this year it seems to be free from countries such as Iran, Afghanistan etc. so it's kinda East Asia + Turkey. It's a shame we're not in Eurovision though.

I don't understand why Turkey chooses cheap versions of ESC for the sake of good results. Now that's scorewhore-ish

Some countries wouldn't care being called a scorewhore, they just want a good result.

To be honest after TRT said those things I don't want them back for a few years. I'm just sad for the Turkish fans. Are there any other decent Turkish broadcaster that could potentially take part? And seriously are they withdrawing from Eurovision and particpatin in ATSF?

There is no voting in the ABU TV Song Festival.

By the way, it would be funny if we came back after complaining about the current voting system. It hasn't changed. So why would we participate? I find it ridiculous to take part in any other contest except for Eurovision though.
