The 8th monthly win of 2016 for the outstanding Icelandic angels, who have come down to earth to show the human race what kind of music is played in the heaven. In this month they only have a lead of 28 listenings ahead of the second place, while in October it was a lead of 44 listenings. In December I expect a closer race given that I usually don't listen to many songs in December and many of them are christmas-related songs.
Second place are surprsingly the Danish Indie-rock band Mew. They have one older but very dreamy album that I started to appreciate during this month. For those who are interested check out "The Zookeepers Boy", "White Lips Kissed" and "Louise Louise"
The kings of quality metal invaded the Top 10 with their tanks and killed they enemies in a bloody battle to conquer the 3rd place. Hope to see Sabaton live one day.
The German medieval-rock band Corvus Corax made it to 4th place. They 2011 album Sverker thematisizes the medieval culture of Northern Europe (Celtic and Germanic) and it's throughout wonderful
Junius Meyvant is my current WV artist and his music has such cool instrumental arrangements and some songs of him are just addicting to me.
Turisas fell fom 3rd position down to 6th position but that's still amazing given that apart from one band there are hardly artists who manage to stay in my top 10 for two or more consecutive months
I wrote it in the October post (which is sadly deleted due to the forum crisis) and I write it again: Turisas is my favorite folk-metal band
For the first time since May Iceland's biggest shooting star Ásgeir returned to my Top 10. His debut album has a very important place in my heart but the problem is that he leaves me waiting for his second album like an eternity. He announced it like one year ago and still didn't post news about the release
Why does he do this with me
Antimatter is a melancholic rock band with wonderfully nihilistic and intelligent lyrics. I should get deeper into their discography.
My January winners Blackmore's Night are also back in the Top 10. One of these artists who couldn't fail to make me happy even if they tried. It's insane how many good and catchy songs they've produced and how consistently good they've been over the years.
Mugison is somewhere between folk-pop and blues, he is pretty good in doing calming and soothing songs. Yet another artists I need to check out deeper. I only know his complete new album and some famous songs of his older albums.
