My first Eurovision Song Contest
Has someone kept track of how many acts use a blue background? Are there any, where the screen is never blue during the whole three minutes?
Edit: I think the winner will be a country without a blue background because it will stand out.

I’ve been hearing a lot about 42 shades of blue being the secondary title for this year’s contest, but thought to myself, “surely, they can’t have all gone for the same colour?” Alas, all but a couple of the artists this year have indeed chosen to make this year “Bluerovision 2016″. It’s particularly annoying for me as a synæsthete, because I can hear colour and very few of these songs give me the overwhelming blue impression of their sets!
I made this map by taking stills from videos of the artists’ second-rehearsals, and extracting the principal colours used on their backgrounds. Some artists use a colour other than blue at some stage during their 3 minutes, but only 6 countries use a different colour than blue or black for most of their song. 5 of these six use a shade of red or orange, with Austria’s pink parade being the biggest stand-out. I’ve never been one to care too much for staging, but this amount of blue, which curiously reminds me of ESC ‘92, can get very one note.
It's so dark and cold with this blue things.
enjoy Zoe then!
she'll warm you up
I hate the two open squares on the floor with the small lights. I thought most of the time it overshadowed the effects of the floor like for example Czech republic. It's such an eyesore.
Overall it's not the best stage in the recent years but it is better than 2013's. It's a bit too square-ish :?
