The bullet stood in the crowd while I performed with a soul cover band in a dungeon in Koblenz called The Circus Maximus. The bullet wasn't impressed.

Re: CYDONI-GIBBERIA 67 - Nation Song Concert

nsclogo-1.png

To celebrate the fact that Cydoni-Gibberia is hosting the Nation Song Contest - the biggest event in the Cydu television calendar - and to celebrate the wealth of talent that has been seen at the contest over the years, CyGiTV organised a one-off event in the capital, Vardychinov, and many acts have been invited to the concert, including those homegrown talents and those that have been imported from overseas.

The first act that appeared at the Nation Song Concert was Hot Chip, who have gone on to boost their career since representing Cydoni-Gibberia at the 33rd contest. At the contest in Begonia they performed "Ready For The Floor" but unfortunately did not fare well. Nethertheless, their appearance at the prestigious event has meant that they have become one of the highest achieving acts in Cygo and are one of the most popular acts in Cygo. They were welcomed on stage with rapturous applause as they performed two songs - their NSC entry, "Ready For The Floor", and another of their hit singles in Cygo, "One Life Stand".

Asked about the upcoming contest, lead vocalist Alexis Taylor said "I think it's incredible that Cydoni-Gibberia has been given the opportunity to host an event like this. The contest is held in such a high regard here despite the often lacklustre results that we achieve and I think to finally win the contest and be able to welcome the rest of Natia to see our beautiful nation is a wonderful thing."

The next act that were invited to perform to the crowd were another former Cydu NSC artist. Despite technically gaining the lowest ranking ever for the nation (24th in the semi-final), Friendly Fires are another massive act in the nation and have many fans across the island and indeed Natia. They performed their NSC entry, "Paris", and a song they had previously competed in a Cydu NF with, "Skeleton Boy".

Friendly Fires were given a very warm reception and many fans in the crowd were heard chorusing the song's lyrics and singing along.

As many of the huge names in the Cydu music industry have already been snapped up to perform at the contest itself, this concert was also helpful to focus on the impact the contest has had on the music industry. Many artists have made their way into our industry as a result of the contest and the massive publicity it brings. One such artist was Grum, who instantly clicked with the Cydu audience and managed to captivate the viewing public enough to be awarded 12 by Cydoni-Gibberia, back in NSC 50. He was welcomed on stage with a loud cheer as he performed "Heartbeats".

Another foreign artist then graced the stage - Jónsi from New Acadia. 3 years ago he collected 12 from Cygo and ended up finishing high on the scoreboard. He performed "Animal Arithmetic" and "Go Do" to the crowd.

Back to home grown talent, another former artist was invited along, Bloc Party. having participated once for Cydoni-Gibberia in NSC 47 they were not satisfied and decided to return last edition. They lost out in Cygovision 66, the national selection system CyGiTV had organised, and so did not represent the island once again. They performed "I Still Remember" and "Signs" to the home crowd, recieving one of the biggest reactions of the night.

The rest of the band left the stage, leaving only lead singer Kele Okereke on stage. Just as the crowd was becoming confused, his solo single "Tenderoni" began blaring from the speakers.

The next act to play at the concert recieved a huge roar as they climbed on stage. After the last edition they had been promoted to superstardom - impressive considering they were already held in high regard by the Cydu people. The Naked And Famous performed their winning single, "Punching In A Dream", and the result of their previous excursion in NSC, "Young Blood"

Asked about their win, they said "We were ecstatic - we had no idea that we would manage to do the impossible and give Cydoni-Gibberia their first win. We were so nervous backstage as the votes rolled in but after the Yaponesian votes we were jumping up and down with excitement. We were so honoured to win for Cygo and are proud of what we have achieved. We're sure CyGiTV won't dissapoint with their organisation!"

The final act on stage was The Sound of Arrows, another foreign artist who gave Cydoni-Gibberia a nerve-racking and close-fought fight for the victory in the previous edition. Their entry, "Nova" recieved the full 12 points from Cydoni-Gibberia and has been hailed as one of the best entries in recent times. They performed this song for the crowd now.

As they begun to close the show with their second song, "Into The Clouds", a special guest appeared on stage to accompany them. Never one to miss a PR opportunity, Fear of Tigers joined them with their song:

Fear of Tigers closed the show with one of his most successful singles in Cygo, "Study Hard Drugs School".

We hope you enjoyed the concert (or at least, we hope you haven't fallen asleep) and we will see you tomorrow evening for the beginning of the semi-finals! xcheer1

^ Sorry but Nothing to see here didn't win :(

Cydoni-Gibberia 67
Fuck Buttons
Surf Solar

Having waited for 47 edition Cygo finally won, and your reward for that, ladies and gentlemen, is for this 10-minute epicness to be unleashed on your ears! Our if-we-prequalify entry for over 2 years, it's a relief to finally be able to share this song with you. Fuck Buttons are a British drone/experimental music duo from Bristol whose works have been described as an "adrenaline pumping, ear purging slab of towering, pristine noise" and New-Noise said that "rarely have two men sounded so much like the end of the world". Their second album Tarot Sport, which was ranked highly in many end-of-year album charts for 2009, consists of 7 tracks, the first of which will compete for Cygo in the final.

Surf Solar is 10 minutes of pure awesome and we hope that some of you will be able to bear it xcheer1 This video was made by me from their videos for the shorter version of Surf Solar (penguins), Colours Move (bridges) and Bright Tomorrow (psychedelic skies). Enjoy!

Cygovision 68 had a few epic songs in it. And thanks for sending and introducing me to The Naked and Famous in 66. Their album has been on constant repeat on my ipod over the last few days xheart

Thanks to the 7 voters! xcheer1 As you can see there was no runaway winner this time, but there was a winner nonetheless and so Cydoni-Gibberia's 49th entry will be...

We've never had a heart to heart,
But you still call me up after dark, the dark
The Dark, the dark, the dark

Hands in the air like the waves of the sea
Walls drip with sweat and we move to the beat,
You got the list of the drinks are on me
There's a queue for the ladies the men's round the street,

I'm in your pocket with coins and the keys,
While you're in the crowd cause you so love to tease,
Round about midnight pretend I'm not here,
Come to AM and you whisper in my ear,

We've never had a heart to heart,
But you still call me up after dark, the dark
The Dark the dark the dark the dark

The music is loud and time travels fast
Things that feel good are things that don't last
While you go off looking for friends in the dark
I tried to hold onto my drink and my heart

I'm in your pocket with coins and the keys,
While you're in the crowd cause you so love to tease,
Round about midnight pretend I'm not here,
Come to AM and you whisper in my ear,

We've never had a heart to heart,
But you still call me up after dark, the dark
The dark the dark the dark the dark

We never had a heart to heart
But you still seek me out after dark
Now you've taught me tooth and claw
But you've still got me coming back for more

We've never had a heart to heart,
But you still call me up after dark, the dark
the dark the dark the dark the dark

I've never seen you in the light of day,
But tonight you're coming out to play
play play play play

We've never had a heart to heart,
But you still call me up after dark, the dark
The dark the dark the dark the dark
ooooh yeaaah

Good luck to everyone in Zaprya! Comments are welcome ;)

Re: CYDONI-GIBBERIA 69 - 50th Anniversary

It seems we've returned to being stuck in the semi for a while  Thanks for all of the points though, I really didn't expect to finish as high as 13th xcheer1

I was originally expecting not to be in next edition as I'm moving house tomorrow so I would've had no internet to take part with. HOWEVER it seems that by my calculations I'll get my internet back in time to vote so I should be able to enter after all

Just as well really, as NSC 69 will be my 50th entry, and for such an occasion it's only natural to have something special planned...
