Re: SWITZERLAND 2013

I haven't listened to any of the NF songs but I am relieved Lys didn't make that cut, it's the only one I was familiar with and it was garbage.

Re: SWITZERLAND 2013

Ralph Siegel and Lys Assia are throwing a hissy fit.

Lys Assia has refused to give television interviews, spoken of her dismay, and threatened to find another country to sing for

I am disappointed and shocked, and really cannot believe it. I am thinking I should represent another country.

And this is what Mr Ralph "Outdated" Siegl had to say

“I’ve said from the off that this obscure online selection, that no-one apart from a few young fan clubs (but definitely not older people) understand, gave Lys no chance of making the final”.

He also insists to give Lys a Wildcard spot in the Final. I wonder what the reasoning would be behind that. Cause he's Ralph Siegel?

I love "All in your head" and i would like to see Lys once again on Eurovision stage, but this is just pathetic! She's such a bad loser

Dear Lys,

We're not gonnA ssia in the NF

She should just stop it already. You know what she should do, bake cookies and drink tea that sounds much more fun than participating in the Swiss NF anyway. Give new participants a chance, jeez.

Here's what I think: Sinplus was robbed a place in the final, and this is the result for 2013 - smaller interest in Eurovision and a bunch of irrelevant songs. To say it in a harsh way...

Your argument suggests that Switzerland had a glut of quality entries to choose from last year. In my opinion at least, they did not. They had a choice last year, between Lys, Sinplus or something disastrously awful.

Just listened to them myself. First of all, NOT impressed by the song quality. Only one of them is actually good imho. Last couple of years the Swiss entries have been good, especially Anna Rossinelli. No such luck this year.

1. Melissa: «The Point Of No Return»

Re: SWITZERLAND 2013

I actually think the songs chosen for the NF 2013 are stronger than what we saw in 2012. Though that doesn't say too much. I only stand my top 3, the rest is just blah.

I think you're giving Lys too much credit if you think she was a viable option last year. She was definitely among the disastrously awful.

Re: SWITZERLAND 2013

This is my ranking:

1.-4. (I can't distinguish...)
Nicolas Fraissinet: «Lève-toi»
Melissa: «The Point Of No Return»
Chiara Dubey: «Bella Sera»
Carrousel: «J’avais Rendez-vous»

5. Heilsarmee: «You and Me»
6. Jesse Ritch: «Forever & a day»
7. Nill Klemm: «On my way»
8. Ally: «Catch me»
9. Anthony Bighead: «Do The Monkey»

But I have to admit that a song like Bella Sera probably won't get many televotes and therefore has no chance to win the Contest...but I like it nevertheless...
As long as the Swiss don't choose the Monkeys everything is allright :)

[h=4]Gay groups in Switzerland call for boycott of the Salvation Army Band.[/h]
"Eurovision and fans belong together like ABBA and Sweden do", the paper says, but that is exactly where the problem arises. In May last year the Swiss Salvation Army, a Christian organisation, dumped one of its members because of her homosexuality.

“The Eurovision Song Contest is not the right stage for the Salvation Army,” Beat Stephan, the chief editor of gay magazine Display, tells the newspaper. Stephan asks for a boycott of the song, as long as the Swiss Salvation Army does not dissacotiates itself from their homophobic legacy.
“I wouldn’t like a homophobic organization as a representative for Switzerland abroad,” said Eveline Mugier from a Swiss lesbian organisation.

I knew that the Salvation Army is quite homophobic in the US but I'm surprised there is a similar vibe in Switzerland. Without turning this into a political discussion it's going to be interesting if this is going to have any impact on the outcome.

Just because of the silly gay groups reaction I'll support Heilsarmee :)

On the other hand the Björkman mafia who now controls the running-order of ESC would 'punish' them with a bad starting number...
