Due to the current situation, the students leading the ongoing protests have decided to start a country-wide boycott of RTS, as they are, among other things, literally fighting against media censorship and the spread of misinformation propagated by pro-regime outlets, of which RTS is one. For this reason, I will not be watching any part of the PZE this year, and, if I may overstep and make a fool of myself, I urge you all to do the same.
While I understand the sentiment behind your messages, I need to address a few points. It’s not important whether individual participants or members of RTS support the protests because they are still part of the propaganda machine. RTS, as an institution, plays a significant role in perpetuating the current system, and a boycott of the entire network is a necessary stand against that. As for the claim that some individuals are scared to speak up, being afraid to act is exactly what has allowed the situation to persist and worsen in the first place.
A light entertainment show like PZE cannot be used as an excuse to break the boycott, especially when RTS is one of the key pillars supporting the dictatorship. A boycott is about sending a clear message, and it must remain consistent.
Additionally, the boycott is an official request from the students of the Faculty of Dramatic Arts (FDU) to the general public, and you can consider me as a messenger of that request.
I do not want this message to be seen as inflammatory in the thread, and I am sharing it only to clarify my stance. As the moderator, my position on this is personal and it will stay as such. This is where the conversation ends, and I will not engage further in this thread to avoid going off-topic and encouraging unnecessary arguments. Thank you.
