I will not lie to you, it´s nowhere near my #1 (but higher than Sweden, for example!) and I won´t vote for it, because each vote for another underdog would lower the poor chances of the Czech Republic. :( So, I will probably vote only for Slovenia, Norway (don´t hate me please) and possibly Azerbaijan.

But you should stay positive - if San Marino won´t qualify, what the Sanmarinese Eurovision people will do? They will say "So, this clearly was not the right strategy and what we must do now is to call mighty Valentina back!"

Woah, I never thought of that before. My vote for Czech Republic could kill San Marino's chances. This is a revelation. I think a change of plan is in order. My 20 votes are now going all to San Marino.

That's very true what you say. I have a feeling Valentina is going to be back very soon though, as she hinted at the Eurovision anniversary show that she wanted to do it againxheat

Don´t be evil, Mr. Burns. I believe that somewhere deep inside you must know that Czech song is better. But it´s up to you and your conscience, of course.

I think they are both magnificent to be honest with you, and incredibly underrated. San Marino's song is just so wonderfully ridiculous though, and quite "surreal" actually as i've seen you describe it as being before. It's so wrong that it's right. It's in a completely different world. So many of the songs this year are dull, soulless and contrived and I genuinely feel that Ralph Siegel's little composition here is an honest work, and i'm charmed by the artists he has chosen. I've listened to San Marino's song a lot more than "Hope Never Dies". The Czech song probably is the better quality composition but in the same way, I think that Latvia have a better composition than Malta but "Warrior" is still my favourite song of the year.

I bring both the countries of San Marino and Czech Republic much love. I hope that Czech Republic can make it to the final. My hope for San Marino is that they don't finish last.

Of course i'll vote for Czech Republic though. I was only joking but i'm certain you knew that:lol:

Yes, I would absolutely put my name under this description, as I love unintentionally surreal, bizarre and grotesque things. However, if this entry would succeed, don´t you think it could somehow undermine Valentina´s position as an uncrowned queen of her lovely little country? What if the Sanmarinese Eurovision people will say "Now we know that we actually don´t need Her Majesty to succeed in Eurovision?" :(

So, from this point of view, I believe that best way how to show your support for San Marino in general and Valentina Monetta in particular is actually not vote for San Marino. But that is just my humble theory.

(You know, somebody must increase the Czech chances and I try my best)

I would like this song more if it stopped after two minutes. For me, the last minute is just filler to make the song three minutes long. If they had made it shorter (or thought of something else to do for the end) then I would like it a hell of a lot more. I want to like it more, but every time I listen to it, I get bored.

No, the light will be a sign. After the votes have been dialed, my window will open itself, and my phone will blissfully levitate, slowly making it's way upward towards the heavenly skies above. Perhaps the same thing will occur for others too who happen to vote for San Marino this year? There will be only one way to find out.

Yes, yes, and the sky will be green and the grass will be blue...
If Ralph Siegel had half of your imagination and creativity San Marino wouldn't embarrass themselves year after year and you wouldn't have to cover for them, white washing their mess. I'm sure they would become a force to be reckoned with, as I believed they would at the time of their debut. They really had a wonderful song back then!

As it is, the only noticeable thing San Marino will be doing in the semi is battling last place with Portugal and, although I must confess to being quite vicariously curious about who will be victorious, I don't really care

Furthermore, I urge you to follow Ritararita's advice, use your votes wisely and if you really like the Czechs, go for them. Their chances are slim, but they exist.

Whitewash!? Cover for them!?xgaah The three years I supported Valentina I never had to gloss over anything and I never took the songs for what they weren't. I knew that the songs were ridiculously out of touch but I was still able to enjoy them because of what Valentina brought to them. The compositions were dated but I didn't care. By putting aside any worries about what others may think of me, I enjoyed them immensely and I was genuinely moved by "Maybe". I didn't have to hide anything there with that one. It upset me though how Valentina was the fan flavour of 2013, and then everyone just jumped ship the next year, when "Maybe" was essentially a refined continuation of the year before, and so tragically beautiful and full of longing and genuine feeling.

Ok, i'm obviously whitewashing this years little delight a wee smidgen. I still can honestly say that i'm charmed by it though and I would take a song like "Chain Of Lights" any day over half of what's competing this year. No way is this the worst composition of the year. You've got a woman going "Why yai yai yai" for 3 minutes for goodness sake, and plenty of other really bland, unadventurous stuff... *cough*........ *cough cough cough*

To be honest, I don't want Portugal to come last either. I think the song is one big yawn, but I like Portugal and they are one country i'd always welcome doing well, even if i'm not keen on the song. I'm still furious you failed to pick Simone though. You would have been my number 1.

Agreed save for two things: 1) I wouldn't have come close to picking The Netherlands, and 2) Were Valentina's compositions all that dated? I actually thought they, "Crisalide" especially, were really trying to do something new and daring.

Well the production was certainly dated. Synthesized strings and other madness any modern day composer would go nowhere near. I found "Crisalide (Vola)" exciting because it didn't care what it was, and that was a wondrously melodramatic, soap opera lament that explodes into full on schlager for it's dramatic finish. It was magnificent. I'm honestly surprised though that you'd consider it something new and daring. Maybe the transition could be considered daring but I don't think there was anything current about it.

It surprises me though just how much fans tastes changed within one year. Valentina went from being easily the second favourite back in 2013 to no fan hype the next year, and the majority being disappointed, when in my opinion her third entry was an even better song. Was a minutes worth of eurobeats really worth that much to people? Oh well, it was a happy endingxqueenbitch

I knew there was some kind of white washing involved, wee smidgen as it might be ;) I enjoy reading the things you say, they are entertaining and make all the sense in the world and I almost believe them, but then I'm listening to the stuff myself and it's like you're telling me there's a plane in the sky when all I see is a fly. To tell you the truth (you must prepare yourself as I'm sure i'm gonna commit capital sin next ), I'm not even so sure Valentina brought anything of herself to eurovision. Sure, she was a nice, unassuming woman from a tiny country and you had to like her for that, but I swear I can hear her voice in this year's entry too!, which can only open 3 possibilities:
a) All San Marinese female bear the same vocals
b) Anita is immitating her idol Valentina
c) All Siegel's compositions sound like that, no matter who's singing them.

Without further ado, I believe in c)

I don't mind who's coming last. That's something we're only gonna find out when everything's over and done with anyway and by then it won't matter, except for next year's arguments sake, which is still far in a very foggy future. I don't, however, want this or that country to do well because they never do, or because they're small or whatever. Countries who do badly have mostly brought it upon themselves. In my experience, when countries begin to care some degree of success usually follows.

I'm sure Simone is very happy to watch the whole thing all comfy from her sofa. Rainywoods, really!

!Let's see what happens to underdog Slovenia is 3 weeks time :)

In that case, is this now everyone's new number 1?xlove

I can't wait to vote for this in a couple of weeks time. I'm sure my phone will light up in similar fashion when I make the call for San Marino, Czech Republic, Malta and Latviaxheat

Keep calm and vote for San Marino y'all (n°3 is all you need to know), you should follow Rainywoods' example.

Don't worry (be appy), expect to be taken care of by a local English-speaking operator

I keep the gif of Michele whispering "no!" at the beginning of the song open at almost all times for motivation.

The one comment on the rehearsal video is from someone named Michael Barone:
"Good luck San Marino glad you bring the truth to the world in your song , hope to see you in final in Vienna"

You aren't going to stop voting for "Hope Never Dies," though, right? *worried look*
