Dear Eulaliya, I am eager to vote in your NF but Ive become a little confused... the Tchaikovsky piece you put there is Valse Sentimentale but in the Copy & Paste list there is written Waltz of the Snowflakes... cant believe, I am the first one to notice that. Does it mean I can chose between those two songs?

Here are my plans for Mother Russia (might end up staying longer than expected due to the large variety of songs):

1. Classical music (check, baby!)
2. Ivan Kupala (the return)
3. 80's disco
4. Indie rock
5. Indie folk
6. Soviet-era piece
7. Song from any of the distant Russian republics (Bashkortostan, Sakha Republic, Tatarstan, Chechnya, Altai Republic, etc.)

Here is the Russian forbidden list according to the Tsarina:

1. Mainstream pop in general (but with a few exceptions). Same goes to slut-pop.
2. ESC artists like Polina Gagarina and Sergey Lazarev (their songs are getting banal for me for some reason)

And I have something to tell you. Due to my upcoming penance works and last-minute hectic schoolwork coming up next month, I'll be taking a break starting WV91. That's because during Lent (which begins yesterday with Ash Wednesday) sacrifices must be made, including taking my temporary time off WV for my personal refinement. I'll be back when Easter comes around and summer vacation clears things up. In other words, I won't withdraw of course!

Ivan Kupala - Brovi

For the Tsarina's second edition of her Russian reign, St. Petersburg's folk-electro band Ivan Kupala returns with another fun entry "Brovi" taken from their 1999 album "Kostroma" (the titular track is their first entry that took part in WV63). This video below uses footage from 1964 Soviet film "Morozko" (Jack Frost), in which the ugly and mean daughter Marfushka is dressed by her mother for her to marry off to a rich suitor, while her beautiful and gentle stepsister Nastya (whom she despised) is smeared in mud and veiled in a rag. While proven by the suitor's family her incapability to work, Marfushka chases geese instead and falls into the pond, when her real worth is revealed after being rescued by Nastya from drowning.
