This is outrageous, they have no confirmation at all that Russia would ban the irish music video or performance in 2018. It is just some small random gay newssite that is out of the blue thinking "oh btw, we should just mention it so that gay people don't forget how evil Russia is" like everyone else is doing in the western part of the World. Russia will never be this stupid and boycott such a thing. I am sure some random guy in Russia will be start shouting soon about doing it, most likely close prior or after the contest, but I am sure that they will show everything. I am just sick of this, let the cute Irish video be and let Russian TV and Julia focus on putting their act together.

Acording with the sensacionalist press here is.. https://twitter.com/Ryan_Acoustic/status/973293391621566464

Wait, also Ryan is attention whore as well

Okey, guys, I don't have time for this arguing. I need someone who understand and speaks Russian to translate for me what this guy says about the symobolism of the final scene in Yulia's clip. He speaks about it between 6:20-6:40. I know he is saying something about the water like source of life??? Thanx in advance!

If they didn't boycot Conchita in 2014 after in 2013 that controversial law was passed, then there is no worry that Russians will boycot that boring Irish dang.

Past my lukewarm first impression, the song grew on me to some extent. I think it'll sound way better live, for the voices are too processed in this studio cut imo.
Unlike last year, I doubt Russia will be among my faves, but it's definitely a decent effort. I wish it were in Russian though.

So, after the first time I listened, I was surprised with the song. I was expecting something worse, for me it's 10x better than last year's cringefest! It's a bit generic, but it sounds good.
I think she could struggle in the 1st semi, but on the 2nd one she will probably qualify easily. I'm just afraid about her live vocals.

With that being said, I don't think I'm returning to this thread until May. It's dominated by 4 or 5 people constantly posting memes and off-topic things for no reason other than to increase the page count, and with people that don't accept when others say the don't like the song, and that accuse them of being Russophobes for it (clearly for political reasons).
This thread truly is a ridiculous sorry mess.

Its really sad and pathetic that the Russian delegation using her disability in order to gain votes. Really bad song nothing well help them.

So people with disability can't participated in public life? Shame on your Poland for sending Monika Kuszyńska, shame on your Finland for Pertti Kurikan Nimipäivät, shame on you Georgia for Diana Gurtskaya, shame on you all. You only want votes. How old you are, ten?

It's not a problem in Russian songs here, problem is Russia. Polina is fake moralist and how she dare to sing a song about peace and equality among all. Helloo how Russia can sing about peace and eguality? But it's perfect fine that UK sing the same, we all know that UK is the biggest promoter of peace and democracy in the world (many Iraqis, Afghans, Syrians, Libyans , Indians are delighted with SuRie's Storm), or to France to sing about refuges although their government has turned many people from the Middle East and North Africa into refugees in Europe. Sergey's song is oldfashioned but Benjamin Ingrosso is fucking awesome and super modern. Baubshkas are the biggest mockery in Eurovision history but Irish turkey is catchy and entertaining. Every year we have same stories told by the same people.

And by the way I really dislike this year Russian entry and gave it only 2 points on the poll.

Maybe Russia should act more self-confident. Their musical potential might not be that bad, so why are they so keen on those sympathy-votes that will be given only because the singer has a physical handicap?

This year is just the aftermath of last year's trolling. They are stuck with a bad singer and pity votes are the only thing they can go for. They would have never chosen such a bad singer in any other year. Even the Russians dislike this entry and her video has 17 thousand dislikes and only 10 thousand likes at the moment.

Of course, nevertheless like every year they will get the diaspora vote and political votes from certain countries but Yulia doesn't have the potential to get votes based on her abilities, so her disability is the focus this year. I suppose next year Russia will make a real effort again.

Be careful what you ask for.

I'm careful :D I prefer rawer vocals, and that's what probably awaits us in Lisbon. The backing singers will obviously sing the chorus, their live voices will give more power and depth to the song compared with the studio version, hence why I expect this effort to be more impactful live (as paradoxical as it may sound to most people )

I hope someone will post a feed just from Yulia's mic without the backing singers and the music. That might be interesting.
