The whole thing made me cringe. Not quite Dina Garipova levels of cringe but incredibly close. The most important thing for me when it comes to music is sincerity. That's one heck heck of a calculated song and message. I'm not buying it's pseudo lovey-dovey all together as one message. That was absolutely horrible. I feel so close to giving (what I think) to be my first 0 of the year, but i'll go 1. Her voice is ok, and the woman actually has some charisma. I can't bear the song at all though.

And why do you think that everyone here thinks that Russia is the horrible motherland of crime and criminals? Have you ever thought that perhaps some people sympathize with Russian nation (with their pluses and minuses) and that WE DO NOT THINK THAT THEY ARE BEING HYPOCRITES?

Besides, isn't love for everyone and so on one of the mottos here? Especially among gay people? Damn, as I've said yesterday, if Mans Zemerlow was a Russian, people here would already drag him to stake and burn him alive for his homophobic comments. But since he is not, well, that is just fine. But when it comes to Russia and its people, a priori they are the bad guys.

Western Europe, please, down with these double standards in ESC. Enjoy Paulina's song for what it is: A GOOD SONG WITH POWERFUL MESSAGE.

Thanx, now I am out. :geek:

I don't think the fact that it's russian has anything to do with it, it would be cringeworthy and it would come across as insincere and calculated even if it was sung by anyone else. It's the way it's sung, the lyrics and the video all put together - I don't sense any honesty and sincerity in there.

Why am I getting a political lecture from you? I don't care that the song is from Russia. If it was from Sweden, Albania, Moldova or my own country, i'd still hate it just as much. It's so hideously contrived, the song and piece of music. I'm not thinking about Russia the country at all whilst i'm listening to it, i'm thinking about just what an embarrassingly calculated song it is, with it's tired message and cliches. It's saccharine to the extreme. I'm taking Polina's song for what it is, and I don't like it. It feels very forced to me and I dislike these kinds of songs immensely. Simple as that.

I've never once brought politics into my evaluation of a song, so please don't paint me out as such. Thank you.

Granted eurovision is the place for such songs, but what the heck, isn't this going a tad bit too far already? Someone's been over dilligent, the place is absolutely crowded with these things.
Who's gonna bother to tell one from the other in the end?

If Sweden wins again this year with such a weak song then virtually every entry next year will probably be a Swedish production and sound. Those Eurovision/Melodiefesten fanboys who love all that will like it but Eurovision would be dead.

Sweden winning this year won't make that happen because it pretty much already happened after 2012 X-OI

Euphoria was a much stronger song then Heroes and deserved to win btw ;)

Yup, pretty much what you've wrote there I agree with. I don't find it nice how my harsh but honest critique of the song and video has been turned back on me in such a way. Just because I don't find the song sincere, it doesn't mean that my judgement is based on Russia as a country. I don't work like that. I don't enjoy songs like this in general and i'm getting flashbacks to the 2013 Russian entry which is one of my all time most disliked Eurovision songs. The next year I found myself enjoying the kitschiness of the Tolmachevy Twins, and many political arguments were raging over their entry. I don't care about politics, i'll listen to the song and judge whether I like it. Only the piece of music, lyrical content and the artist is what I go by.

Putin...Russia will eat us...PutinPutinPutin. I hate it, because it's Russia. Putin wrote that song.

I mean, guys, maybe you'll try to forget about politics since it's damn SONG contest?
Or don't talk at least about normall people.
I can guarantee you, that me, Polina and other russian people, who are really fond of ESC and music don't eat kids or kill people.
Please, enjoy music, love and that indescribable spirit of ESC. Critique song, voice, arrangement, anything you want but not people.

Just read enough today and that fetched away. Sorry, if hurt someone.

I wasn't referring to Mans song to be honest... I meant the big dull ballads :?

I don't think Euphoria deserved to win anything. It was just the big production and staging that won. You was a decent song, as was Hero. But the glorification of anything from Melodiefesten has become ridiculous. If they just put Sweden straight in the final maybe that would enable other countries to have more of a genuine chance to pick up points in one of the semis.

I've just looked through all the comments left here since Polina's song was revealed in full and I could not find one comment that made a personal attack at Russia. The negative comments in general called the song insincere or cliche. Not once was Russia attacked by ESCUNITED members today (unless I have overlooked a post?).

I love Russian music. I don't want stuff like this from Russia. It's as simple as that for me. I really don't like the song, and I don't like other countries entering songs like this also. I don't need to bring politics into deciding whether a song feels sincere or not to me.

Really, really good. Well done, Russia. The only thing I would improve the end anyway. 10 points.

I wrote that not because of you, of course. Some comments here + youtube forced me.

Hope we will save friendly aura ;)
