Correct, having an early draw is better than a draw somewhere in the middle. A draw at the end is still by far the best option. Unfortunately there are a lot people who tune in late missing the first few songs so that kinda sucks.

Yep, that's the main bad thing about either opening the show, or coming right after a advertisement break. But for the people that stay tuned in for the whole show, which are the majority of people, it's easier to remember the earlier songs than the ones in the middle.

I'm not so certain. I'll do the numbers.

If song great, doesn't mean which number it has. Euphoria was #11 (middle) in Semifinal and anyway won it. The same in final, from 26 songs #17 is also middle and it won in Final. Don't know why, but #17 is the most luckies number in Final

Have a graph.

Too late at night to do proper maths on it, but at first glance there still is an upward trend over the course of the show, although nowhere near as strong as in the final. It remains true that there is no advantage in going early rather than in the middle.

I agree with that, if a song has what it takes, it will do well.

I'm not trying to suggest running order position is more important than song quality. However, when margins between winning and losing are small, it can have an effect.

Well, it surely has an effect, there's no denial in that.

well my friends
get ready for the great cezar to sing twice in this eurovision
he got the best place
people will forget about other entries they heard and vote massively for the cezar
best place ever
now lets talk about the other entries that will be forgotten:
estonia has chances
croatia has no chance at all
netherlands will also stay in the semi imo(they are after russia and ukraine-strong televote(diaspora) entries)
as for denmark and norwa they will go trough
personally i think serbia will qualify but i can't be so sure like in romania's case
i'm really sorry for austria, i liked the song; i hope it will qualify although i am not sure
latvia and san marino are also screwed(imo no qualifiers)

A few comments about the draw...

Estonia are dead. Croatia will shine as the only male vocalists in 8 songs! The Netherlands will only stand out if Montenegro follow but the ad break could kill both chances. Belgium are qualifying with that draw.

San Marino may have been placed second but after the quirky Latvian entry, they will stand out (think Montenegro/Iceland last year). Armenia 11th, hopefully they will be forgotten and not qualify. Georgia could win the second semifinal. Romania are qualifiers of course now!

Listening to the songs of semi 2 in order, the biggest winner is :hu: coming after :am: - :hu: are definitely qualifying, but it could work for both countries.

IMO doesn't matter how weak and forgettable is the entry drawn before Hungary. There's no way such sleeping pill can get much votes.

Does anybody know when we're going to know which Big5 Countries will start in the first and which in the second half of the final?

I think it will do better than expected... (at least I hope so) ... but I'm not ruling out qualification by all means!

I have a feeling that Belarus will open the Grand Final.
But i would like something more soft like Spain.
