Look at all the other years after Lordi, polls favorites have won.

Oh yes, they were epic wins by Charlotte Perelli/Vania Fernandes in 2008 and Amaury Vassili/Blue/Getter Jaani in 2011.

Anyway, back on topic. It's ridiculous to compare this to Lordi. Lordi won because a) they had a gimmick thats never been tried before and b) a very catchy song that appealed to people who normally don't like that genre. Romania 2013 is/has neither of those things.

The names you said were never the big favorites. I never said that Cezar can be compared with Lordi, but there was someone who said that it is the scariest entry ever and that he loves it for that. And then came on my mind Lordi, who really were the scariest entry ever for normal viewers of ESC.

This gives me Bulgaria (Krassimir) 2009 vibes... It's hardly a masterpiece (just like Bulgaria 2009) but just as back then I can't agree that it's the worst of the worst... This is somewhere in the middle/bottom middle for me... but the worst song this year? Actually not!

Though i think "Illusion" was good in the studio version, it was just the live vocals that failed unfortunately :?

Well, I never though it was "good" ... but it wasn't as bad as people made it out to be (and I'm talking about the studio version here).

What I find most perplexing about this whole hate for this entry is how everyone was going nuts for Malena Ernman's pop opera song a few years ago. What sets Cezar apart from these other pop opera songs at esc is that he can actually perform his song live VERY (and yes I shall stress the very) well. Everyone else struggled with their songs including Malena.

Cezar actually makes this interesting. The song itself is a pretty standard, enjoyable yet undeniably trashy eurovision affair yet I honestly really like Cezar himself. He makes the song fun, quirky and enjoyable. He's also extremely charismatic on stage and a joy to watch. I gather his voice is the killer for pretty much everyone. I feel bad for Cezar as he's actually rather good. More scorn should be shown to dull, fake, bought songs this year of which we have many. I'd rather the bonkers fun of Cezar to talent show rejects singing american style ballads about shining etc.

This!!! ^^^ I was sad that this song has won because my love Luminita lost, but I don't get why is so much hate for this entry between esc fans. Malena was a favorite in forums, but lost the qualification. I found this entry more shocking, more interesting and his voice is a rare thing in our world. I think that the jury will love it and the televoting will not ignore it. But it is just my opinion and we will see the reality in May.

I see little in common between Sweden 2009 and this one aside from the operatic aspect. Cezar sings in a Falsetto throughout the entire song and it is incredibly annoying and unnecessary. It probably would have been a whole lot more bearable if he'd sang in his regular and natural range. The fact that the lyrics are horrendous certainly doesn't help either.

I don't give out zeros lightly. This really deserves it. Hope it will be Romania's first non-qualifier.
Since '94 we have always passed in the final, but this year..I have the feeling of a 'chain breaker'

Right, it was 22nd and very close to don't qualify. I didn't like Malena and I don't like Cezar, this is not what I like to see in Eurovision. The only opera I liked was Alenka Gotar. But I prefer Cezar than Malena.

I think that normality for him is to sing like that, this is his musical identity and the juries will like this because is not easy to sing like that. About the bad lyrics... I think this is something common in Eurovision.

I understand that he is a countertenor and that what he feels comfortable with but it is a very... I don't know....acquired taste....and to the average ear it is more off-putting than appealing. And the mix between the classical style and the rather mediocre pop music just seems to clash.
It is possible that the juries may give it a few points, though I am not convinced about that. But I just don't think it's going to be enough. But I have learned to accept that nothing in Eurovision is impossible. My intent was here to explain why this song is so universally unpopular.

It depends a lot by the stage act, the show. I think it will surprise many of you because in Malmo will be something totally different than what you saw in national selection.
