I personally don't mind a big, expensive staging. Often it really breaks or makes the song, like it ruined Greece's performance but made (for me) Belarus a 100 times better (I really disliked the song before yesterday, when it became one of my favourites, also simply because of the performance (I like to see singers actually singing, which wasn't the case in the official video) but, it isn't necessary. The staging should first fit the song. If it's a timid, intimate song, performed well with a lot of emotions like Salvador's song last year, just some wamr lights are more than enough. But in Sweden's 2015's case, the staging and the song were both amazing and really fit. It was an uplifting, big, loud song. It would have looked ridiculous if he were just standing there all the time without any interaction. But: Russia 2016, were they tried to mimick Zweden 2015's performance, didn't fit at all. There isn't any necessity to climb on led-screens blocks and swirl around in a basic 'you're the one'-lovesong.

In a way, he kind of is. It was getting a bit absurd where artists were concentrating their efforts mostly on the show aspect, and not the song. They were structuring everything so that it would maximize their chances to get as many votes as possible, as opposed to just creating good songs and THEN building a performance around it.

He isn't right, he basically states that ESC is trash and there is only room for a certain type of music in this world (the type he likes), and rest is... well... trash. The guy simply is no fun. Music is so diverse and speaks to many of our various emotions and moods, if he had one brain cell he'd understand that, but of course not... there is room for both Salvador and Eleni and even freaking Aqua in the world of music. Eurovision is an entertainment show, it's also about having fun and putting up a great show, there should be room for all. For being so anti- Eurovision though, he clearly needed it to make a name for himself ironically... well don't bite the hand that feeds you.

Anyways, I will try to focus on this year's Portuguese entry and not on that pretentious douche in this thread.

I'll be honest, I don't know anything about what he's said or is saying about Eurovision. I probably should've done more research before replying

No problem, he is a waste that will have no career anyways because he is so unlikable that I can't think of anyone wanting to work with the guy except for his own sister that is the actual brain behind last year's entry.

As for THIS year's Portuguese entry, I applaud Portugal for trying something different again, but unfortunately not my cup. I've been trying to see if it could grow on me, but not xshrug

:? This thread is about Cláudia and not Salvador, whose way of expressing his opinions I also don't like even a bit. Cláudia has no responsibilty for Salvador's words though.

Very true, but it was inevitable that someone mentioned it, and before people jump on this bandwagon saying that I did that, well they should check again because I was simply answering to the comment.

Anyways, I agree that it should be about Claudia, I guess Salvador doesn't realize that his comments indirectly hurt even the image of Portugal and its entry this year... sure those are not related to each other, but it is still so unnecessary, we can see the effect it had on this thread for instance...

Going back to Claudia though, she looked very good on the clip. Who is that other chick with her? I don't get that one.

I'd be so sad if people started disliking Claudia because of Salvador. She seems awesome and respectful :(

It shouldn't, each person is responsible for their own actions, but he is certainly not "helping" in promoting Portugal nor its entry, if anything, more the opposite. Couldn't someone tell this guy to just shut up until when Eurovision was over at least? xshrug

Claudia comes across as nice though, what did she say on Eurovision this year and Eurovision in general? Anything at all?

I just hope he is respectful when giving the trophy to this years winner. That’s all I care. Hos very arrogant and I don’t care about what he has to say. He needs to understand there is a difference between being honest and disrespectful.

Why do I get this scenario in my head of Eleni winning and him declining to go on stage giving the trophy? #drama

I hope if she wins she gives him 2 kisses and is classy to him. Kill him with kindness as they say. And then do some subtle shading on the winner's speech

Both Cláudia and Isaura listened to all the songs months before the contest and liked the overall level of the field. They are really enjoying the whole atmosphere of the event too. They loved going to the Madrid pre-party for example.

Can we please stop? This is the thread for Portugal's entry of 2018, Claudia and Isaura have nothing to do with Salvador or his views.

To be more on topic, this went from my bottom 5 to my favourite in the span of a few days! I really hope it captivates the audience and can get a respectable result, the girls deserve it.
