Something I confirmed today: Portugal is one of only three countries to ever win in all three categories of the Marcel Bezençon Awards – Press Award in 2008; Artistic Award and Composer Award in 2017. France and Israel are the other two countries that achieved this.

I really like Sofia Li! Cláudia Pascoal from the latest episode was amazing as well, she screams Eurovision. I hope these two will eventually be on the FdC.

Totally irrelevant side note: is that how good you have to be to lose in the battle rounds on The Voice Portugal? Damn. His interpretive skills are basically non-existent, and his voice really isn't my type, but he's pretty darn proficient technically, way more so than I'd expect from a tied for 33rd place contestant on The Voice.

The Eurovision Song Contest 2017 was the second highest-rated non-football TV program of the year here – 1,4 million viewers. This is huge.

So I looked up the ratings in previous editions, and the decline is scary! I had an idea it was bad, but not that bad.

Ratings of the grand finals on RTP1 since 2008

2008: 1,716.000 (46.7% share)
2009: 1,299.000 (37.5% share)
2010: 1,285.000 (39.1% share)
2011: 640.000 (19.6% share)
2012: 617.500 (15.8% share)
2013: 579.500 (13.5% share)
2014: 541.500 (13.5% share)
2015: 503.500 (13.2% share)
2016: 505.000 (12.7% share)
2017: 1,401.000 (34.5% share)

YAY 2008 here in Belgrade Arena was the most popular! I have attended it! :)
