Portugal never join with a brillant song like "canta por mim" so this is the true decision for them. They have a potantial to sending a great songs but they sends a basic ,nothing special songs to ESC.
I hope one day they join with a great pop latin hit !

This! :D

my prefered song for esc is Portugal 1989 Conquistador
this decade '80 are so happy.

yes it is fantastic but also europe didn´t like it...just 36 points and a 16º place.....another injustice like many others Portugal got in ESC, just because the country don´t have any opportunity to have diaspora votes like balcans or ex URSS or North Europe....I am glad to be out of this finally!!

can´t I?? I´m sorry but...I will stay if you agree.....and if not, then I will stay anyway!!

As long as you obey the board rules

13. This forum is Pro-Eurovision & EBU. While it is okay to share constructive criticism, it is NOT okay to question or boycott the participation of countries if they are eligible to enter the contest.

^ Well, everyone is entitled to their opinion. I also would be happy if my country (and some others) pulled out simply because I believe it does the contest more harm than it does enhance it. Am I, who hath ranking lists for all Eurovision years, a hater now that should not have access to this forum? :?

Interesting question...you could make a poll about it. :p

Well, we have an ignore list function in this forum; so...sure, even the weirdest opinions are not necessarily a bother (for me, as a user) at the end.

Nevertheless I'd just prefer talking about ESC matters in a constructive way and in an agreeable climate, as I love the contest, that's why I joined this forum - and I find too much negativity "on principle" (so to say) always rather off-putting. xshrug

Talking about music again: I will really miss the Portuguese flair in 2013, I hope the country will be able and willing to join the party again soon.

thanks but...I really really hope not...The country and RTP broadcast ( public television) can not spend money( money from workers like me which are giving lost of our money to the government) in a contest like this, just because we are here since the beginning even without any winner...on another hand Portugal will never ever win the contest for all the reasons we all know, so, it is may opinion like the opinion of millions of others portuguese´s that the country don´t have conditions to stay in esc....thanks

In 1989 there was no televoting, unless you mean the diaspora votes came from the jury! xrofl3

I'm very sad :pt: will not take part in this year esc. I think Portugal has had some really nice songs in past but also has some significant mistakes in choosing songs (especially highlight in 2010.). ;)
Let's hope it will be back in 2014. xrunhug

You can not talk about what you really don´t know! please take some time studying the results and votes since 1961...of course the contest had diaspora votes since the beginning....and of course even when it had just juries and not televoting!!
