Okay, I must admit I am surprised by your reactions, but in a positive way of course. I still cannot even force myself to listen to the song once again, though. And I have noticed something:
Poland:
The rest of Europe: good choice, decent, earworm, a solid 8, I love it, I enjoy it, pretty... etc.
me: okeish song while it lasts, however it's flat and on the same note for the whole duration, there is no hook and I can't remember it after it's over
people: earworm
I quite like the song. Trying to be like Aurora but maybe not quite as good. I have no idea who any of these artists are so reading the disappointment in the comments is quite amusing. Not going to win but I prefer it to the other radio friendly pop songs that we have heard so far (Germany/Denmark/Belgium).
Who wants to bet the staging will involve a chess board and a rook (tower) chess piece?
Detailed results of jury voting.
I can tell you - as a kind of consolation - that the surname Klatt (klat) means 'blob' or 'stain' in Danish.Oh boy Piotr Klatt when I catch you
It's because polish fans are always too harsh with their selected artist. Look, I know it's not polish people choice, but I'm Italian and Angelina wasn't Italian public's choice this year, Mahmood wasn't Italian public's choice in 2019, Diodato wasn't in 2020, Måneskin nearly wasn't in 2021. Do you think we Italians care that much? Juries are not Always wrong and in this case, if I was a juror, I would have given It lots of points myself.
The point is, if something is good, I don't actually care who chose it. "The Tower" is in my opinion great: I love the song's meaning and the lyrics are good and smartly pur together, they deliver very well the message, I think Luna is a more than capable performer, I'd like a good and cute little synth pop in Eurovision (because I like it as a genre in general), I already found myself singing along to that chorus even when I'm not listening to it and I love the concept of the video too. I think that's enough to make me rate this high.
A lot of people won't like it, a lot of people will, that's part of the game. I'm on the latter category. It's a matter of taste: while some people salivated around Slomo, Unicorn and Fuego, I'm not the best fan of dancing numbers, but I can see why they are successful. I prefer structured song and I have lots of favourites that nobody, I think, has. For example, I loved "Pali Sie", which imo definitely deserved to qualify while I'm not that into "My Slowianie".
Poland's Youtube share in the world is twice bigger than ours or Spain's, so no wonder.Sure getting a lot of views on Youtube for a song that is getting so much hate. 1.1m on the ESC channel in a couple of days.
3rd most viewed video on ESC channel after the Ukraine and Spain national final videos (both on 1.7m but they have been up on the ESC channel for 2+ weeks).
The problem with Tancuj which won the first vote is the supposed lead singer Kayah was not going to be available in May due to concerts so that forced a re-vote after that info was known.I think I was happier not knowing the rumour that Jesien - Tancuj won the initial jury votes.
My profile pic did not manifest hard enough...
Having said that, Luna is not a bad choice. As long she can perform it well, it should do fine.
It's not a particularly good synthpop song though IMHO.
Given the ensemble aspect of the song, Kayah's vocals aren't actually that prominent in the song, since groups like Dagadana and Laboratorium Piesni also contributed to the song. You can easily pick 6 members from either group to perform without needing Kayah (as long as she is OK with the arrangement). The problem with Tancuj which won the first vote is the supposed lead singer Kayah was not going to be available in May due to concerts so that forced a re-vote after that info was known.
i have watched out for a live version maybe from polands television but no match so far.Given the ensemble aspect of the song, Kayah's vocals aren't actually that prominent in the song, since groups like Dagadana and Laboratorium Piesni also contributed to the song.
