Re: POLAND 2018

Probably she was supposed to sing those two songs, but there was no time for it and she sang only one. I saw on her Facebook that she said she is going to sing "Voiceless" and "Delirium"

Maybe producer forgot to change it. :)

Re: POLAND 2018

What a shame that the chorus is so bad, the verse was okay and the pre-chorus was amazing and then they did THAT :?

It's not that dreadful, it's actually quite catchy and able to do well at the ESC.

Seriously Edyta, drop your stupid delusional pride and Diva-behavior and just send "Andromeda" to the contest and Poland will have one of its best entries ever... your previous attempt just wasn't good enough, so stop whining over it and admit the problem was the song, not the competition! So far "Andromeda" is one of the best Polish songs of the past years (and I'm surprised saying this since I'm not even an Edyta fan by any means!).

This is delusional to hope she will enter the selections ever once again. She did swallow her pride when she applied for KE 2016 :) and you know how it ended up.
Donatan stays behind the production and he's clearly not a fan of Eurovision either.

Isabell's "Delirium" is by far the best we've heard, I still hope some known names gonna apply but we have to wait, mostly no-names reveal their plans and entries earlier.

Re: POLAND 2018

My country hasn't offered anything special in the last few years so I'm not getting my hopes up too much. We'll see how it goes.

Still upset these two songs didn't end up as our official entries back in 2004 and 2006:

Each to their own, I think it's very well produced and doesn't sound dated at all tbh ... I think following the beat of "today" is not necessary the best option since trends are shifting, this sounds more universal as far as "beat-department" goes and would work 5 years ago, current and 5 years from now aswell... as for what you describe as "anti-climactic" is another thing that I actually like with this song, that it's not over-the-top pompous (like some ESC entries tend to be) but rather a grower with a nice subtle production instead... I'm pretty sure alot would say that Belgium 2017 was "anti-climactic" aswell (I'm not saying they are similar type of tracks, but they have this thing in common that they aren't trying to be over-the-top).

Poland's main problem is that no one with a decent career and track wants to enter Polish selection (Donatan/Cleo was an exception from the rule).

If Doda would have entered "Riotka" back in 2015 (as was rumored for a while) and Margaret would have won the national selection in 2016, and add "Andromeda" to 2018, then Poland would have had a pretty good run since the comeback in 2014... but seems like Donatan/Cleo will be the only good addition Poland had in ESC for the past 2 decades...

Ok i'll put it in different words: beats like that haven't appeared anywhere near world trends for few years, plus they're very basic. And...a song doesn't have to have a huge key change or some loud climax, what i mean is that a melody is flat as a pancake, it's as unmemorable as it gets and there's no wow factor in it. Overall, it's boring. I understand you like it but let's not bring it to ESC, we need something better)

I understand it's not "on-trend" but then again I think 2017 was one of the worst years in contemporary music for some years (atleast if we take into account the big hits, I want to throw up when I hear "Despacito" for instance...).

I get what you mean, I actually found it pretty flat sounding too the first times I heard it, for some odd reason it just caught onto me recently...

Well, if they can find something better I'm all for it, but it doesn't look very hopeful, Poland sent pretty much different versions of crap 2015-2017 and before Donatan/Cleo (and after the 90's) Poland sent pretty much mediocre demos to ESC.

Despacito? It's just one bad example among many-many great hits like "Shape of you" and "Rockstar" (which is freaking brilliant and still kickin').
The first listen is what matters in ESC, right?)

"Shape of You" is decent, "Rockstar" is pretty good though but we know what juries think about such stuff... xshrug

ESC was never about being "on-trend", juries have been punishing forward thinking songs and rewarded dated stuff since the very beginning of ESC... the freshest to mind is Belgium 2017 (that I mentioned previously) which was probably the most up-to-date sounding song of Eurovision 2017 (doesn't mean it was precisely on-trend, but atleast it didn't sound ridiculously dated as many other entries did).

Yes, first listen matters, but then again I'd use Belgium as an example of where viewers had a more open-mind than jurors and rewarded a slight odd-grower over other more "direct" things... Hungary 2013 is another entry that comes to mind aswell...

I have no clue what you're talking about, you just have an anti-jury agenda that everybody knows about, don't throw it on me )
They've punished plenty of dated stuff, they praised plenty of modern stuff, you just see what you want to see.

Throw it on you?

What "modern stuff" did they praise? I must have watched a different show... xshrug

My point is that if you want stuff like "Rockstar", just be prepared to see it slaughtered by those juries... you can call it an "anti-jury agenda" if you want (fine by me, I don't have problem of pointing out issues in ESC).

I agree with many things in this post, but it is also a bit unfair not to mention Michal. Maybe you don't liek his entry, but it was obvious that televoting LOVED it..so you sometimes have to be realistic and say for some successful entries which you don't like.. ;)

For example I liked both and voted for both Donatan & Cleo and Michal! ;)

I also LOVED last year Kasia Mos, it was in my TOP 5 and I voted her so much! ;)

I didn't like it, dated cheese... with that said I don't deny it was successful with the televotes... but it doesn't change my opinion on the song itself.
