Re: POLAND 2018

Really? It's dreadful and a sure non-qualifier xshrug

I've got pretty much the same feeling. But it's something that may appeal to Polish public because, you know, it's such a pretty girl, with such beautiful voice and such moving song, come on son, send a vote for this nice girl. Similar thing may apply to Isabell I guess. People won't rather think about our song being outstanding or not, world-class or not. I am afraid that Gromee might be too modern for our standards

Oh, no. You can say A LOT about Otrębus, but not that she's nice.
That's why she was so low in a public voting last year and I keep my fingers crossed for the same result this weekend.

Anyway, I feel the same about Monika Urlik. Even in a group of people I know I've heard opinions, that she has a great voice, so they choose her and Gromme is "boring". Then I was like "Do you remember our great voice from 2017" and they was like "oh, right". This is about song, people!

But hype for Gromee is even bigger in some places than Margaret's I guess, because people just don't want another ballad from Poland (not only Gromee's fans but in general) and I hope all those fans from FB, YT, etc will VOTE. :) And jury will not destroy the result.

We'll see. I hope Gromee and Lukas will have a great performance and there will be no other choices. I saw interviews with Gromme and he looks like a guy who tottaly knows what Eurovsion is about and we need that attitude.

So... next Saturday... Margaret to the final and Gromee to Lisbon.

I really like Gromee's song and hope they will win on Saturday.

If anyone else wins Poland once more ends up in the bottom 10 of my ranking.

Re: POLAND 2018

People never learn... "Hype" before the contest is 0.1% of actual Eurovision voting impact. Almost no one "hyped" Salvador before the dress rehearsal, yet he won with a record breaking number of points which is not gonna be broken anytime soon. Hype just makes people either to hype more together, or to hate the hyped song more - just because it's hyped. /If that's even a word.
In other words, I don't have anything against hyping the songs. But it's just silly to think it has anything to do with the actual result in the end and both Salvador and Norma John are the best examples.

Out of the bunch of pretty mediocre songs, Gromee sounds like the best option we have for now, but the pink girl may win due to children voting just like they did at The Voice. No way Otrębus is getting the ticket and I doubt the rest has any chances as well. If it was about me, I'd pick Ifi, she could've become our very own Aminata.

I'm not sure if we're making it to the final this year, pity.

I hate Monika's song, it's terrible but unfortunately she is most likely to win...

1) Not pretty
2) Lame voice
3) Dated crappy ballad

If people think anything else, they're delusional

Would love to see Saszan win here...her song has a nice, sophisticated dance sound.
Gromee's song sounds too cheap and generic.

Of course they are. Hate to bring it up again, but remember who was 2nd on last year's KE.

I'm asking the Polish fans: who do you think has the best chances to win this Saturday's Krajowe Eliminacje? Who is the biggest name in the competition? One of my Polish friend said that Gromee is one of the hot favourites, and has the best chances to go to Portugal. Anyways, their entry is my favourite as well, and I hope they can win the NF easily ;)

Obviously fan hype can be very, very misleading at times (looking at you, Mei Finegold), but I'm not sure you chose the best example there. Salvador might not have spent months as the predicted winner like Francesco did, but he was consistently around 4th on the odds for most of the pre-season, he had a lot of ardent fans talking about his entry, and he was at least considered to be a bit of a dark horse. That's massive hype, at least by "Portuguese ESC entry" standards.

Whichever song wins, no one has a woooow effect, not even one.
They are all average or below average with artificial, generated sound. No song can be imposed, with anything, unfortunately !
We've all heard that, and every day we hear hundreds of such songs. Nothing new, original, authentic...
..except for one ethno song that was made as a parody, in a rather clumsy manner.
Poland will hardly be in the finals this year.
In particular, it will be difficult to qualify from the second semifinals, which has strong songs and traditionally strong countries when voting.

... Yes he has a correct (OK) song, ideal for radio ! but, for ESC this is an ordinary and secondary song, especially in 2 sf.

It's hard to predict. Remember 2016? Many people thought Margaret will win very easily. Edyta Górniak (#2 on ESC in 1994) was the only threat. Michał Szpak won, and Górniak was 3rd. ;)

But speaking of names and popularity:
When it comes to airplay hits, this is Gromee - he has 5 hits according to the Airplay Chart (4 of them peaked in top 10 and one was #1) and Light Me Up is already on 23th place on PL Airplay Chart. But he's a DJ and producer, his songs are sung by different singers so people may don't know his name and connect a face or name with the song.

Marta Gałuszewska is a fresh winner of The Voice and her song is a radio hit as well, but she has only this one single for now. People who don't want her to go are afraid that ultra fans of Michał Szpak will vote for her :D But all those ladies are in love with him, not her tho they sang toghether on The Voice final and it was so popular on YT. Anyway, radio plays Polish version of "Why don't we go", last year we had similiar situation, Lanberry had a hit called "Piątek", she sang in English and I don't even remember how it ended.

Saszan has a big fan-base (of young people).

Isabell Otrębus is the smartest, cutest and the most talented in whole competition, according to herself. She deletes all, not only negative, but neutral as well, comments on her social media accounts.* She and her 500 followers on Instagram will fight for the win. ;)

Future Folk had a potential, they could send a really powerfull ethnic song, but they failed. Apperance of their singer coudn't hurt them, btw.

So, we'll see how performances will go. :) Some of them already performed on TV and Monika Urlik showed her great voice, but the song is meh. Ifi Ude was a little bit boring.

If you ask me:
Prediction: Gromee / Monika Urlik / M. Gałuszewska
I want to win: Gromee / Ifi Ude
...but first: let's see them live. It can change everything.

* I did not chat with her, but I checked Polish forum and one guy wrote that she banned him because he adviced her to smile on the stage, lol.

Yoozek, and remember, she's a Fitness Freak according to her bio on Insta! For Polish-speaking people, I recommend interview with her on eurowizja.org.
I just don't want a person like her to represent the country.
