Re: Possible Hosts for 2013

I see only 3 choices: Sarah, Mans or Kristian. Well, Mans maybe is too young, but these 2 are best choices for event like ESC.

I don't think being young is an issue, it's all about how you host. Måns is ok, I'd rather prefer him as a male host over Kristian who have proven not to fit with this concept at all.

Re: Possible Hosts for 2013

You use Vodionova as a sort of argument against having good-looking hosts , she was just hilariously bad but she really was in a case of herself

Nadia a good hostess?? She was an utterly bore, her face expression throughout the show was like "what the eff am I doing here, I don't care about it, I know noting about it and I think I'm too good for it to even try fake a smile for it"

Anke was ok I guess, but comes across as a butch lady trying to be funny.

LoL We really don't have the same taste concerning hosts ! hahaha It may be because we are not used to the same shows in our respective TVs... French TV is extremely conservative... I guess even Albania with its FiK may have more hilarious and modern shows than us ! hahaha

I didn't state that good lucks and good presenting skills couldn't be synonymous... I was just concerned at people putting so much importance in looks. I have a massive issue with current attitudes towards "music" and the world of "celebrity" as a whole at the minute, so maybe I jumped to some defensive conclusions. I apologise if that is the case.

I do still stand by that looks should only be treated as a bonus though. Obviously it would be preferable to have a good looking host, but there have been so many "good looking" hosts of recent years who have had no life in their presenting, they just add further tackiness to the reputation of the contest where it is already suffering. We should be encouraging the contest to not just be presentable, but also full of brilliant quality too.

Don't talk the talk if you can't walk the walk... or something like that :')

Also I thought Anke was very attractive as well as a brilliant host. She looked better with her hair down though. Similarly Stefan of that year I though was a brilliant host too, but I didn't consider him attractive... I was still extremely happy with him being a host.

I absolutely agree with this ! But not Stefan Raab, I thought it looked like it was him him and only him ! Him singing, him joking, him being here and there as if it was Stefan Raab comedy show... But, he's funny ! :-)

Well, I just say, that I disliked greek and serbian hosts. They were just like beautiful things on stage. Would it be a statue or a ship like in Malmö 92, it would have been the same ! :D

Actually I secretly wish our southern neighbours Spain win ESC soon, because I would die to see Anne Igaritiburu because to me she would be the perfect host one can imagine ! Friendly, professional, pretty, funny, spanish... All the qualities one can imagine ! :D

You would find very few of these celebrity types in Sweden and all Miss Sweden-type contests struggle hard to get attention. There is a fairly recent blog celebrity type that could apply though. Girls blogging about high life, clothes and stuff.

^ That's just scary!

I don't know much about Sweden's celebrity culture. But without looking far; Eric Saade and Danny Saucedo, I do think Sweden still has a few "artists" who are more about their looks than their actual musical talent. Maybe it's just taste? But Autotune makes all the difference to their tracks....

Tbh, MF is not a good representation of the Swedish music scene in particular. Eric & Danny are typical "pre- to - teen-age girls' idols", outside of MF bubble and that public they don't have much success.

In Sweden looks don't get you as far as in many other countries, especially not on TV or in movies. It seems the motto is even "the uglier the better"... it all boils down to a combo of the "Jantelag"-culture (which relies on the motto: "you shouldn't think you're special"), and the pseudo-feminism which has hijacked all public life through the institutional sphere and has this idea that somehow good-looking (especially women) are stupid creatures who should just either make themselves as ugly as possible, or just hide from the public eye and be ashamed that they happen to look good or care about their looks.

I'd say it's a culture of envy: envy of success, envy of fame, envy of the rich, envy of the beauty and even envy of the talent... it's a weapon for the bitter people, who also happen to control our media sphere in general.

Well, blogging girls needs plenty extravaganza to succeed. Some profiles are actually made up by artists playing an artificial role, like an extreme real-time role-play game. They are usually backed by various brands and some made their character into a successful business.

But my point was: You will find very few stereotypes as celebrities in Sweden - to succeed you need brains and talent as well as looks.

Uuurk, get some perspective instead of making up weird theories of Swedish culture. Bitter angry nonsense! Perhaps you just hang out with the wrong people?

I'd rather if you disagree with me in the future you'll say your own opinion on the subject instead of directing your answer at me personally, that'd be far more interesting than you guessing and making assumptions on "where I stand politically" or "whom I hang out with", which btw you know nothing about and has no relevance on this forum.

I'm not making up anything, but I guess we two simply live in two different realities.

I wish they'd include some stand-up -ish elements. I'm all for fun! :D

That's a hit- and - miss tbh, I have nothing against fun but it should be made in a respectful matter and not overshadow the show or turn it into a comedy fest.

Jesus I thought they were announcing it at 10:10 Swedish time so I said I'd get up now for it but it's not for another hour after that and I can't get back to sleep urghh I mean we all know it's going to be Safura Alizadeh what with Azeri money flowing all over the EBU these days

I wonder how they'll announce it, like it's not like the graphic where you can just have an intro video. Maybe they'll just have the host under a cloak or in a box or something. I mean it'll be a bit obvious if the camera pans to the main area and we just see them there like

They'll prob have a simple press conference like when they announced the performing acts.

Anyways, I read an interesting article... so I have a pre-guess on who it's going to be already... let's see if there's any truth in that.

Re: Possible Hosts for 2013

I bet there's a draw of random letters from a bag, like Scrabble, and it spells out the name (e.g. S A R A H D A W N F I N E R), and she comes out as the host, but then Christer Bjorkman comes in and meddles again and we end up with HRAAS WAND NEFRI as a host and out comes one of those Sims that go wrong.
