1. All Around The World: a real-world country is chosen by the host. All artists competing in this event must be from the chosen country. In the case of groups, the majority of people in the group must be from the country. The song can be in any language.

2. AATW type of Spinoff but with NSC nations

3. AI Cover Spinoff

4. Covers & Remixes 5: everyone has to send cover or remixed version of a song previously entered in the main contest, including the original versions of songs whose covers or remixes were entered in NSC.

5. Major/Minor: songs changed from major into minor key (and vice versa)

6. NSC ESC Classic: any entry from any year allowed

7. NSC NF

8. Oldies: tba, the host can decide the timeframe

Hate being a party pooper, but the Copycats idea is against the forum rules.

"12. Duplicate accounts are not allowed. We will check IP addresses on members whose behaviour we find questionable."

I wouldn't risk my account here to take part in a spinoff, so I think we'd have to find another way than to make new accounts on the forum...

I didn't even think of this - how does this affect different members that live in the same flat using the same broadband router to access the forum with two different usernames? The way that rule is worded would suggest it's monitored to avoid suspicious activity, but like Orian said if they knew of the accounts that were being set up and for what reason, it could be a way around it.

I guess we could just have the song selection and perhaps voting in the style of another nation element of the spin-off, but part of the fun of my original idea was going to be the forum banter and interactions so it may take part of the fun away in my mind at least.

I used to be an admin on a Need For Speed site, and we had "Pimp My Ride" contests based on cars from NFS Underground, and people would go to extreme lengths to cheat, in order to win those contests. Some of them had rather nice prizes. We used IP addresses to monitor the voting, and we found several cases of new accounts giving maximum score to entries sent by the same IP. Sometimes it was duplicate accounts made entirely to cheat, other times there was a brother trying to help out. At least that's what they claimed. But on a few occasions, we saw two accounts sharing the same IP, but voting differently, and that seemed likely to be two different people. We let that pass.

For an NSC spinoff, I doubt it would be a big problem, this is all for fun, but I would recommend to make sure to have the admins on board with it first, in case there should be a problem.

Birth Year Bash: send an artist who is born the same year as you are.
Copycats: each participant creates a new forum account and throughout the course of the contest, they must impersonate another NSC/WL nation - from the style of song sent to the style of posting in the forum. They will register their entry under an anonymous made-up nation name. As well as the usual ESC style voting for the entries, everyone has to predict which nation/user each entry is impersonating with bonus points added to the final scoreboard for the most correct guesses that each participant receives.
Covers & Remixes 5: everyone has to send cover or remixed version of a song previously entered in the main contest, including the original versions of songs whose covers or remixes were entered in NSC.
ESC National Finals: year or country randomiser/classical.
NSC Banquet: send a song with a type of food or drink in the title.
Rainbow Rumble: every participant has to send a song which title has a colour in it.
TV jingles/Insert themes

Another problem with copycats could be to find a host. Because a host couldn't participate in that contest (or would have to participate without the bonus points).

AATW was actually chosen one of those spinoffs which are supposed to happen regularly after a certain (established) amount of time without connection to regular polls (there was a special poll regarding it). I just need to set the frequency of it, and of the two other recurring spinoffs (NF and Oldies) as well. AATW and NF still could take part in the poll just because their frequency hadn't been set yet. I'll probably make a poll about it soon. For example, AATW and NF can take place after 4 or 5 other spinoffs. "Oldies" doesn't seem to be popular lately, though... I don't remember anyone suggesting it ever since I was chosen responsible for the spinoffs, if my memory serves me right...

And also I think (someone suggested something like that before though) , we can save a lot of time and make spinoffs happen more often almost without intervals , if we start actively suggesting themes for a next poll right after the host of a current one is chosen, or at least right after the confirmation thread is opened. In this case there's a possibility for a poll to be held at the same time as the voting in a current spinoff. Well, I know there can be some specific spinoffs with an unusual schedule, but still that scheme might be helpful.

You got it all Vero. I was the one suggesting more efficient pacing of Spinoff cycle and your concept sounds perfectly legitl.

I know it seems like I am constantly declining these hosting offers but I do not have enough time. If I were to host now, it would be a text show -- but I would rather do it in the usual Sereclarish manner. Hopefully one day..
