1. All Around The World: a real-world country is chosen by the host. All artists competing in this event must be from the chosen country. In the case of groups, the majority of people in the group must be from the country. The song can be in any language.

2. AATW type of Spinoff but with NSC nations

3. AI Cover Spinoff

4. Covers & Remixes 5: everyone has to send cover or remixed version of a song previously entered in the main contest, including the original versions of songs whose covers or remixes were entered in NSC.

5. Major/Minor: songs changed from major into minor key (and vice versa)

6. NSC ESC Classic: any entry from any year allowed

7. NSC NF

8. Oldies: tba, the host can decide the timeframe

I'm very happy to see Spinoffs are picking up momentum again!

My bids:
1:: ESC National Finals (year or country randomiser/classical)

Also, Rainbow Rumble isn't my idea, but it came second in the last voting, so I figured it deserved another attempt.
Should it win tho, I won't host. A spinoff with colors deserves a host with a functioning color vision...

The birth year spinoffs were a little different iirc. They were for songs released when you were born, while this one is for artists.

Copycats: each participant creates a new forum account and throughout the course of the contest, they must impersonate another NSC/WL nation - from the style of song sent to the style of posting in the forum. They will register their entry under an anonymous made-up nation name. As well as the usual ESC style voting for the entries, everyone has to predict which nation/user each entry is impersonating with bonus points added to the final scoreboard for the most correct guesses that each participant receives.

Interesting idea. Would two people be able to choose the same nation/user? Or would it be like confirming a song, i.e. first come, first served?

I think it would be good for the sake of variety to have each nation/user claimed on a first come, first served basis but I'm not precious about that fact.

I guess the issue with that would be that a list of claimed nations would have to be provided during the registration process making it easier for the guessing part of the contest since everyone would have a clear list to choose from. So maybe a free choice with the possibility of there being more than one entry or participant impersonating a nation would be best?

That's a different concept Vaso, more like an Anonymous spin-off where you would take part as your own nation and people need to unmask you. Both would involve an element of trying to potentially send the type of song another nation might send, but instead of throwing people off the scent with Mystery you're actively trying to lure them in to identifying you as the intended nation with my Copycats idea. Think of my idea like a tribute to one of your favourite nations, where you are encouraged to be everything that they are including your forum posts and how effectively you impersonate that nation is rewarded.

I imagine it as everyone having a different country randomly assigned from the list of participants. That way everyone would have one copycat - seems most fair to me.
Additionally., everyone would send two sets of votes - one as a copycat, one as themselves. We'd have two different results. And we add bonus points to those whose copycat votes were most similar to the real votes of the person they impersonate.

I didn't think of having any double voting to be honest, just normal voting based on how you would normally rank the songs since by the time the results are revealed all the votes and guesses of the nation's being copied would've been submitted already anyway.

Wow, didn't think this idea would snowball from my little seed planted last night... Probably needs greater thought on the finer details to ensure a smooth delivery of the theme

...Maybe NSC: the masked singer could be another completely new concept altogether Anonymous nations send a series of songs which progressively hint more clearly towards who they are. I guess it wouldn’t be a spinoff but more like one of those longer games like CEC or World Cup that we used to have in the past.

Yeah, that's an expansion of it, but just having one song would work too and you probably have to consider it more carefully to try and get the perfect entry that would immediately link back to the style or taste of another nation to get those bonus points for being a successful copycat

Hate being a party pooper, but the Copycats idea is against the forum rules.

"12. Duplicate accounts are not allowed. We will check IP addresses on members whose behaviour we find questionable."

I wouldn't risk my account here to take part in a spinoff, so I think we'd have to find another way than to make new accounts on the forum...

We'll just ask forum admins for permission. In the unlikely case they don't allow it, we could just have the spinoff without the posting part, and we'd send our entries using our own accounts. I suppose the host would have to know everyone's identity either way.
