Those semi 1 results have to be the closest I have ever seen... Four ties, one of which is a 4-way tie, and only 20 points separating last place from the lowest qualifier. I don't think I have ever seen last place get 41 points before.

It's not nice to turn on the stove and turn it off immediately. Either heat up the broth or don't bother at all.

Is not so hard. People are more likely to give people they know and like the benefit of the doubt over other people. If voting were incognito things might be different, but they are not. The net effect is that in a contest of this size the consistent underrating of unknown quantities really adds up. I have seen both here and in WV how new players take a couple of editions to establish themselves or perhaps their brand or genre and the points haul improves. Now, given that NSC is fairly old and a lot of the players are a bunch of boneheaded knobs the effect might even be a bit worse than elsewhere (read: WV). Especially in the viking rape and pillage circlejerk (you know, the one where you can't even read who's who on the pot schematic as dogmeat didn't space things out like Alevender does) it's silly how static and predictable the voting goes. Seems likely that problems are at their worst there. Haven't checked though.

But I mean y'all can go get all defensive over me pointing out some obvious stuff because omg creepy not-so-nice outsider being outrageous, but there is nothing outrageous being said. For every friend you give a sympathy vote someone else is getting blanked. They add up. I mean I can collect stats and show that stuff, but I don't feel like it because it would take me a lot of time and ultimately it would single people out and I don't think that's fair at all as to a degree we all do it, no one is a saint, just be mindful that it has some detrimental effects.

And about me wanting to get some old members out of here, well, I'm on the waiting list and it's fucking slavery. I want to get my ass in NSC sooner than later so we can get those rules sorted so other people don't have to suffer the stupidity of it all.

I'm not even angry at the person who made the picture because I don't expect anyone to know how much it felt like rubbing salt in the wound, coming from my situation. I was just genuinely riding on my 189 entry to be the one to break the streak and give me a result I was more satisfied with, and the result instead felt like a complete regression.

Thank you so much though for reminding me that I am not alone for my feelings. I don't want to spoil the fun of these contests, it's just that it's a lot more enjoyable to partake in when my entries have a wide mix of doing well or lousily, as opposed to a very long, unbroken streak of miserable failures.

Just so you know, thanks to your entry I've been listening to Tegan and Sara on repeat for the past two weeks. You can always make someone's day, no matter the result
Still, I'm aware that results are a part of this game and a streak of bad results feels exhausting after a while. I'm lucky that my entries tend to place all over the scoreboard, so that I can never know what to expect next edition... All I can say is just try different things and only send songs you love. That's the best way to enjoy NSC.


Anyway, this recent trend of leaving all my top threes in the semi is getting ridiculous.

Many thanks to everyone who passed this marathon with the results show! It was incredibly difficult to find the right tasks and connect them in one chain as needed, especially at the end... But it was too late to retreat! Thank you to @Veronika, who so brilliantly turned another of my crazy ideas into reality!
Congratulations to all the finalists! It was really painful to see the figures leave the battlefield one by one... But also the same happiness to see some nations in the final!
