it's a shame that norway has such a good music industry but it's rarely seen in mgp where most of the songs are produced in songwriting camps :/

all scandi nations should be inspired by finland

Hello fellow Eurovision fans!

As Eurovision 2025 approaches, our excitement is reaching new heights. Many of us still have Alexander Rybak's unforgettable victory from 2009 fresh in our minds with his song "Fairytale." It was a moment that united Europe and brought a magical atmosphere to the contest.

It would be amazing to see Norway bring something equally captivating to the stage once again. "Fairytale" blended traditional sounds with modern pop, and Rybak's violin still resonates in the hearts of many. I hope Norway surprises us this year with something just as unique and memorable.

What do you all think? Would you like to see Norway return to its roots and bring something as magical as "Fairytale"? What are your expectations for Eurovision 2025?

Heard an interview with Tarjei Strøm, the new MGP boss.
He mentioned Spektrum for next year, so it seems that the final will be in Oslo Spektrum (February).

Tarjei has a good deal of experience both in that he has been a participant on the MGP stage before, has been on the jury in Eurovision and has been an artist for most of his life. He has a large network of artists and was asked how he can take advantage of that in his new job.

He replied that he has immediately started contacting key people in the industry, the record labels, management etc to hear their thoughts, and he said everyone reacted with "this was exciting". He has also received congratulations and messages from artists who are not traditional MGP artists, (Norwegian pop artists), and he was quick to send them an SMS back and write "now you are going to make a hit for MGP 2026" and he said some were curious about it. He further said that he may know some artists who have been on the fence who have not known themselves how good MGP is, so he will have good access to that part of the network. He said people were surprisingly positive when he had taken the lead, so it's exciting to see who he can manage to bring in from the better-known artists. I think we will achieve something clever, he said. It's a good thing that he has taken action as soon as he got the job, even if his job doesn't start until next year. He said he had been a little involved in this year's selection, by getting in songs that might had been a little on the sideline or unsure if they should be selected or not..

He also talked about that the artists they pick out had to have something extra, a charisma that makes them stand out. He also believed that some of what destroyed Norway last year. was that there was too little focus on Gunnhild, since contact is important and she has a very good appearance as a live artist.

He was also asked if he is going to push for enhancing the TV production, that certain things must be included, changed, etc. He replied that he would be involved and use his experience if he saw that the artist, or the number needed something extra or changes…to shine more. He said people would probably get upset with his eagerness, but he would do his part to make everything better. When asked about artists from his home town, Bergen, he started talking about how there were many artists who were based in Bergen, such as Aurora, Sigrid, Gabrielle, etc. and thay they’re almost right outside his doorstep,, so it's clear that he has to bother those who works with the bigger artists in Bergen, a little extra.

In the interview, he also asked what the listeners or the ones owtiehe interview would like to see in a future Norwegian final that might be missing. One said it should be mentioned that you have to be willing to go all in with production and everything, as most Eurovision winners do. It is true that the artist must be able to stand up to it and take the task very seriously. Tarjei agreed and said he had thought about it as well and completely agreed. That you get great opportunities no matter what result you get in Eurovision, therefore it is important that you have to make some sacrifices in those months.

It was also mentioned that those who are at Eurovision see that NRK is among those who spend the least money on the show and hope that NRK realizes that they have to put a little more money into it in order to lift the show, especially when NRK often talk about winning. Tarjei said it is clear that there must be both money and elevation of the show.in that package, as it also draws a part of the votes, so he should certainly bring that forward to the people over him in NRK. He also says that Mona Berntsen, who they have now brought in, is very focused on the visuals and has extensive experience as one of the world's best dancers (and has been part of the Super Bowl and many large productions).

They got into autotune discussion, because he was sitting in his music studio, and he then said that "autotune" as it is used in MGP, does not mean that if you are out of tune, the autotune as it is used in MGP will save you. It's more of a fine tuning, so that it makes it sound better for the listeners in relation to the sound production, excluding white noise etc. (which they use on The Voice, among other things). He understands that it sounds terrible that they use autotune and he thinks it should be a different word than autotune when it's used in the way it is in MGP. He explained that even when he was on news broadcasts, they used some kind of fine tuning in the microphone to enhance the sound. He also said that if you sing badly, and point at himself ‘this MGP- manager will not choose you to stand on the stage either».

He also told that they talked a little about it during a dinner earlier in the week that Christer Björkmann had analyzed previous winners and wondered why we always thought we had to be so "cold" here in Norway...blue background, white dresses etc. and that is exactly what many have wondered, as Norway always has the same blue background. Then Tarjei said that no one in NEK production has thought about the fact that hey automatically think theyHe said its important to must have a cold Nordic background (which is strange they haven't thought of, as so many have complained about boring blue backgrounds, etc.), He said that its important that you dare to try and to use some new things.

He kept repeating that he will sell Eurovision to musikNorge (musicNorway’, and everything that happens in terms of being seen and heard all over the world, that you can have a hit regardless of result and that it is a good springboard for a further career in Europe. He will try to erase that line between MGP and for example, the spotify list. If he gets excited about something, people rarely find peace. Then he will fuss. Its also important that NRK must inform the artists that they have to appear for interviews internationally, go all in, and that they know that it is a golden chance and must give something of themselves, so they are prepared.

He had only been in the job for a week when this interview took place, so it seems as if he is extremely committed and his big goal is to also bring established artists into MGP going forward and he wants to win. I have more faith in him than what Karlsen was doing and Tarjei also seems more open to feedback, which Karlsen was miserable at. Karslen just ignored all feedback and made excuses for one thing and the other. Tarjei said that he is so bad at lying so he hopes he never gets into a situation where he has to lie about artists, dates etc.

Copy and paste from esc forum post by Cala.

This seems promising. Stig Karlsen was honestly an awful HoD.

I have heard that there is either few to possibly none really big names that are in this year. Skrellex (MGP 2023)apparently submitted a song but it got rejected so we can rule him out a least. Nora Foss Al-Jabri (MGP2012) is rumoured but not confirmed. Other than that I think I would probably tune down any hopes for any "big" names this time around.
